  1. I was at 7th and 8th lake recently (8/17-8/22). Not even a bite on 8th. Fishing nightcrawlers, drifting with a canoe in ALL debts. 7th lake was a whole different story. Couldn't catch a single thing of any size, but did catch a ton of panfish (perch, sunfish, rockbass and even a shiner and creek chub). About 3-5ft of water with bobber and nightcrawler. Tried every minnow looking lure in the box, w/no luck and even tried both the shiner and chub and a baby sunny, w/no luck.

Weather was perfect. The meals were great. And the scenary was unbelievable!!!!

  2. I can't find any useful information on fishing the Fulton Chain, up in the Adirondack Mountains. Heading up to 7th/8th Lake this Friday for 5 days and really want to give it a go. I know the species include: SM Bass, Trout, and Salmon. The lakes are somewhat deep and I know from others a little challenging.

Anyone got any advice on either lake from any vacation trips? I would SO APPRECIATE it.

We are so lucky for this site, for this area.

  4. I managed one Pike and one Bass using Shiners on the South End. Had TONS of bites Sunday AM, but they would not take the shiner for more than a min. They would hit, bobber gone and then right back up, like 8 times!!!

Tried a couple hours of trolling Friday Night. NADDA.

Sunday trolled on the way back from 10AM-Noon outside the docks with deep divers - NADDA.

Tried Bullhead in the inlet on Sunday w/worms. NADDA.

Got to be this Monster Moon. Worse Opening Weekend EVER at Conesus.

    What about others? Silver? Conesus?

  5. So anyone want to share some advice on Consesus for the opener? My success in the past has been trolling for eyes AFTER dark close to the docks with Yellow XRAP Rappalas, but NO EXPERT on the EYES.

Pike, South End of lake w/shiners. TONS of fun and almost guaranteed fish EVERY YEAR.

    Any advice on night eyes?

  6. The last couple of years, I've managed a single eye, each of the openers. Basically trolling with a XRAP (usually yellow), JUST outside the docks.

My question is, people say they get in close? How close? Like cast shore and real back?

    Better trolling or casting?

    Sinking or floating rapallas?

Should I get out a little deeper?

  7. Just some information, if anyone is looking at all for anything like this, but I was looking for a nice place to camp this summer, and of course, fishing had to be excellent in the area as well.

So, I signed up for an annual membership (only way to camp there) for Gravel Ponds in Scottsville.

The people are great, the camping is great, and their ponds are stocked with nice bass and panfish.

A GREAT place to spend your summer weekends if looking for a nice place to camp and fish, especially if you have KIDS!

  8. Anyone been up to Black Lake and any advice?

Going to McClear's Campground (never been there and not sure where exactly it is), but do have a boat to get around.

    Just looking to catch fish.
