  1. Very slow fishing today. Water temps below 50. Launch was accessible and while the "docks" are not in, there are two small "docks" still there. Water levels were ok. Fishing not so hot. Had 3 of us on the boat and only a single 3LB Smallmouth Bass. We tried all water depths from 3' to 20'. We tried everything. Oh well, it was good to hit the water and I know better fishing awaits. Looked like some people are hitting the bullheads in the inlet if anyone interested as well. And welcome any advice for early spring Conesus.....
  2. Trolling in 25-30' with Reef Runners (yesterday silver, today yellow). Smallmouth hitting them nice. Most bites are when you pause it. Many of the other guys seem to be getting pike in closer like 15' of water and hear MEPPS. Marking a lot of fish in 40 and even 50 feet, but I'm not equipped for anything over 30'. Boat is scheduled to be winterized early next week. . Maybe i should push that back a couple weeks. ANYONE else want to share some friendly tips on Conesus?
  3. Troll or cast crankbaits (10-12 foot divers) in 15-20' of water. Trolling anywhere between 1.6MPH and 2.2MPH. Colors vary on light conditions. Have caught anywhere from 2-6 fishing in 2 hours each and every night. Couple of Tiger Musky (smaller), couple Largemouth, but not a single rogue walleye yet. Tight lines.....
  4. Anyone with information on this? Looked like nice turnout and would like to contact member to see about possibly joining in future(s). Thank You!
  5. Is there an actual "closed" season anymore? When I looked at the regulations last I believe there is a season year-round now, separated by two blocks of time. The old timeframe we all called the season (June 15th - November 30th) where you can keep them and use live bait and then the other half of the year (Dec 1 - June 14th) which states (not closed) but artificial lures only and catch n' release only. I was suprised when I saw/read this: https://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_pdf/fishguide.pdf Either way watching people visually fish, dropping drop shots on beds doesn't seem much like sport to me.
  6. Much better like w/the pike over the last week. Kid w/me pulled pike out of 30' of water off golden shiner (about 30"). Couple off shallow running crankbaits in 5-8' of water with crankbait that dives like 4' and also I landed my first ever Tiger Musky in the same water. We also tried some shiners off bobbers down on the south end in about 5-6' of water and had 3 runs pretty close to one another.
  7. Smallmouth have been biting nicely from 3' and deeper. Caught real nice one yesterday on a MEPS yellow spinner first cast (largest in long time). All in all the BASS fishing is picking up each and every time get out. Believe Largemouths are still spawning on the beds but should be coming off very soon. My father caught a small pike yesterday in about 8-10' of water above some shallow weeds with a small rapala. We once again tried the larger Pike and Walleye sitting between 15' and 30' of water but just can't get them to bite. Throwing crankbaits and sinking stick baits but can't get them to strike. Going to try some jigging next time. Anybody else want to share?
  8. @dickey thank you for the report. How deep divers were the stick baits? And yes, the Pike DEF appear to be deeper at Conesus right now. Only ones I have caught have been in that 15-20 like you stated. Silver Lake Update: Small Bass under docks with Senko or Robo Worm and the Crappie Fishing is insane right now. They are everywhere from the docks out to 7-8' of water and biting anything resembling a small minnow. Big ones (largest nearly 13" long). No Pike. Tons of weeds on top of water everywhere, already. Weeds up high in the water already for this time of year as well.
  9. Heading to Silver today after couple days of slow fishing for me on Conesus. Have been able to catch some small male bass under docks and not targeting the females on the beds. Can't catch a pike to save my life over last couple of days whether casting shallow with rapallas/meps or in 15'-20' of water with silver crankbaits that dive 10-12' even though marking fish. Any other better Conesus Updates where people having more luck? South End has been dead for me (usually great) and one here and there off North and East and West Shores. Doesn't matter, just been slow for me. Heading to Silver today and will post some updates tomorrow.
  10. Took my son out this week to Silver. Fish were biting everywhere. Fished worms on bobbers under docks/boats resulting in Perch, Crappie, Rock Bass, LARGE Bluegills, and my son caught a 3-4LB Bass. Outside the weed lines with a worm and split shot resulted in much of the same. Weeds are up so casting for Pike/Bass was tough inside the weedline.
  11. Bullhead Bite at Conesus Inlet? Anyone hitting them down there yet or see people down there fishing them?

    Bullhead Bite

Anyone hitting them at Conesus yet?
  13. Anyone ever hit that marsh up in a canoe or kayak? Man it's beautiful to look out there. When there last week to see the Walleye spawning in the inlet, noticed anywhere from 40-50 dead carp floating or near the shore. Any other fish make it over the dam area or maybe dropped by birds? Looks like a BASS paradise, but probably too shallow.......

    bullheads?

Nailed them Friday during the day. Caught between 40-50 in just 2-3 hours with my boy. Went Saturday Night and they were not really biting until complete dark, when they instantly turned on. Conesus Lake Inlet is where fished both times. Saturday Night it was PACKED there. I'm talking like 20-25 cars up in the lot and shoulder to shoulder fishing up/down the inlet. But YES, they are in full swing.

    bullheads?

Wondering same thing myself. I think I'm going to try this weekend. I know Conesus gets hot, once you get a day or two of 70 plus weather.....
  16. Understand the pike are up the inlet now, and shouldn't be long until the Walleye make the trip. Here is a video from a coule years ago, when I took my boy up there, and we were lucky enought to been there at the same time the DEC was shocking the walleye for research. Enjoy:
  17. I know it's early, but figured would get the string started, so we can get some updates when they start hitting down there. I have seen photo's that the pike are up the inlet spawning, which means the Walleye shouldn't be too far behind, and then with a couple 60-70 degree days, the Bullhead Bite should start. Any updates, greatly appreciated.
  18. Gents, we are heading back to the ADK in August and want to try 1st-4th lake. The problem is last time I was there could not find out how to get to those lakes? Can you get shore access to them and if so, what roads are they off? When coming through Old Forge, is that "pond" looking thing actually 4th lake? We go up to stay at the DEC campground at 8th lake. GREATLY appreciate any input. Taking the kids this year.....
  19. North End???? Over the seaweed down there? When you say buzzbait you talking spinnerbait over top of water?
  20. Hate fishing the Fulton Chain. Funny story was last time up there asked guy: "So, where to go for the best bite?" His reply: "You need to head to the finger lakes......REALLY, that's where I just came from."
  21. RWhite, in general terms what ends you casting? South? East?
  22. You ever run into anything else, casting for the BASS? What you throwing in the bay? Never fished it before really.
  23. Muskie, was down at Vitale casting last night......TONS of Bass, but nothing else.. Casting Rapala jerk bait type.
  24. Went down to Vitale Park around 8PM and casted a ShadRap Yellow Color Rapala. Caught like 5 Bass from 8PM-9:15PM, but no Pike/Walleye. Something BIG was jumping, think very large BASS. Saw one other guy wading out off the point, but didn't see him yanking any in either. The BASS were extremely fiesty, when stopping the lure and letting it float back up a little. For what it's worth........... Hoping to catch some Pike/Walleye over the next couple days, if can get a boat from Mark's.
