  1. I agree, both North and South ends and only have to anchor in about 5'-6' of water. Throw out a shiner with a bobber and you will catch Pike. Never done the North end but see them pull them up like crazy from the ice down there. I go to the South because it's a quicker ride for me.
  2. It will NOT be 12:01 on Conesus. Most of the trolling there starts around 8:30PM.
  3. Rented a boat tonight (and have tomorrow) on Conesus Lake. The plan was to fish the inlet from a boat rather than fighting with everyone on shore for the 1 good spot. There were lots of people out. I'm thinking possibly 8-10 groups of people. We arrived around 9PM to the spot (parked right outside where the inlet comes into the lake). The night was great...stars all out...lake was calm and just a tiny bit chilly. OOPS - got off track. Well we didn't do that great. From 9-10 they were biting OK, but after 10 they just stopped for us, but did see some others catching one or two here and there. From what we learned on shore, they were nailing them up until around 8PM (right around time it gets dark now). They did not touch the Chicken Liver tonight, but were rather biting on the tested and true nightcrawler. One of the guys there said he had around 30 in his bucket all caught between 5PM-8PM and then just a couple here and there between 8-10 (maybe 3 between the two of them after 8PM). We ended up with 2 very small ones in the boat and I mean SMALL. They were both caught right off the bottom on Nightcrawlers. We missed maybe 4-5 more on the bottom and they were biting so soft tonight. We are going to try tomorrow AM starting from 9AM-???. Will provide another update tomorrow, but expect to have 30 or more during that time from previous experience out there during the day. SO: If you want to catch these bottom feeders (now they are not Pike/Walleye/Bass...but are fun to catch in huge numbers prior to our opener) try it out. I would not waste your time going at night. This is the 2nd time I've fished at night down there for bullheads and both times it was not productive. However every time I've been down there with a North Wind or No Wind during the day, we just kill them. Bait to bring: Nightcrawlers, Chicken Liver, and Leeches if you can find them right now. You never know which of the 3 they are going to want that day.
  4. I'm renting a boat to go out and hit the bullheads instead of fighting for space down in shore of the inlet. Any restrictions on driving a boat down in that area with the Pike/Walleye swimming/spawning down there? Not going down the inlet, just park outside the mouth of where inlet comes into lake and cast towards opening.
  5. I just can't wait. Definately will be hitting Conesus hard due to proximity as well. Walleye at night and Pike by day. It will be crazy down by the inlet in the AM and early PM there, but it always produces even with 15 boats down there. Anyone got a clue where you can get Creek Chubs or HUGE shiners? Art's bait shop here has great bait, but a mix of big/small.
  6. I know everybody has to be getting excited. I can't wait to hit the Conesus Lake Inlet to see the run, when the weather improves. Where is everybody going (don't need the honey hole...just lake)? What things are you trying? Talking the nights. I'm going to try a bunch of things this year. All my fishing will be on Conesus Lake both for Walleye at night and Pike during the day. Going to try trolling the shallows with every lure I have. If that doesn't work, then casting the shallows with every lure I have. What about jigging at night? How, what, and where at night on Conesus?
  7. I know (forget the name, but respected person here everyone listens to), mentions to cast the shallows of Conesus for Walleyes at night. I've tried now 2 years in a row. The first year (NOTHING) casting shallows. Second Year, only one, but a very nice one trolling a rapala slash bait type. Anyone ever use swimbaits (soft baits) for trolling or casting them into the shallows at night? Been reading a lot about it in magazines but never talks about potential of trolling them versus the traditional rapala or casting them to the shallows. Both of course with VERY LIGHT jig heads????
  8. I figured a little early. Wasn't sure if anyone was doing anything from shore (perch maybe). Shouldn't be too much longer for the Bullhead to move into the inlet area. You even fish the bullhead in April down there? It's crazy good....literally one after another if you get the one and only spot down there from shore.
  9. Has anyone been out to Conesus? Anything? If so what and where? Thank you and will provide updates when I get out there.
  10. Anyone ever fish the river? I know absolutely NOTHING about fishing this or any other river. Any advice on where to go (Livingston County Maybe)? What to do for really any species?
  11. Anyone doing anything on Conesus? Looking to do some Bass and/or Pike fishing this weekend? What's biting and where? Anything going topwater yet?
  12. Conesus Lake, South End. Have not been skunked yet.
  13. How deep, where abouts, and what strategy/lures are you nailing them on? VERY NICE fish. I know with Live Bait, they are gone out of the 6-8' foot range with cold/wind (PIKE).
  14. See my reply above for Conesus Pike. You can't keep them off the line down on the south end with golden shiners (atleast when it was warm and calm water). I went out yesterday (winds NNW at 12-15MPH) and temps feeling chilly. Went from 5PM-7:30PM and only caught one nice Largemouth and had one Pike Run.
  15. What do you mean by PM? Sorry don't understand what you're asking.
  16. I must have caught 30 PIKE on Conesus (Saturday - Monday) w/2 or 3 people in the boat. All of the pike were in about 6-8 feet of water down on the South End. Used Shiners w/bobber about 3ft between bait and bobber. Seen everyone casting not catching a thing. Regarding Walleye....Caught only one trolling the first night. Several nights of trolling the shallows and nothing else throwing every rapala in the box. Fished the East Shore from Leisure Time Marine all the way down to the inlet. Anyone else with information on Conesus? Where are the Walleyes at night? I know shallow but anywere in particular? What baits are you throwing at them at night?
  17. I ended up with the biggest Walleye of my life right at the beginning of the season. It was 24" and about 7LBS (how do I post a picture)? Was trolling the East Side of Conesus down by the Conesus In. Caught on an XRap Rapala. Anyone troll with them before?
  18. How about the night walleye trolling with wind/rain forecasted tonight? They still come in shallow for shallow running Rapala's? Going to try Conesus tonight, although have not had much guidance here yet on what to do to be sucessful.....
  19. Anyone with any tips for Walleye after dark on Conesus or the hot spots for Pike or even a Musky? Last year did nothing with the Walleyes but killed the Pike on the south end near the inlet with a typical shiner/bobber rig.
  20. Grew up on Silver Lake where you could catch one or two in a night either trolling or casting at the opening. Went to Conesus last year, fished 2 nights without a bite. Ended up towards the South End near the inlet and fish were jumping all over the place. What is jumping early May in that area, and what's the best bet (place/how deep/bait) for some sucess this year with the Walleyes after dark? By the way, not sure if you like catching bullheads, but early April in the Inlet of Conesus Lake is crazy. Caught 25 of them from aruond 2PM-6:30PM on Chicken Livers.
