Other than the major lakes, are there any public fishing spots in the Henrietta area? We pulled over on Saturday to the pond, sitting behind the MCC hockey rink which you can see from 390. Had a couple nibbles, but whatever it was, it was VERY/VERY small. Had a worm and casting a minnow bait, neither with any luck. Looking for one those hidden gems, you pull your car over for.
Another place to catch Carp, is the OUTLET of Conesus Lake by the water authority. Small little part there, where they are kind of trapped in about 2-3' of water. Bite on corn and ALWAYS get one or 4-5 on each trip.
You see the fish swimming right there, but most are on the opposite shore line near the trees in the water.
I was at 7th and 8th lake recently (8/17-8/22). Not even a bite on 8th. Fishing nightcrawlers, drifting with a canoe in ALL debts. 7th lake was a whole different story. Couldn't catch a single thing of any size, but did catch a ton of panfish (perch, sunfish, rockbass and even a shiner and creek chub). About 3-5ft of water with bobber and nightcrawler. Tried every minnow looking lure in the box, w/no luck and even tried both the shiner and chub and a baby sunny, w/no luck.
Weather was perfect. The meals were great. And the scenary was unbelievable!!!!
THANK YOU to both of you. I leave tomorrow, so wondering if anyone else has any advice.
So Corey, I assume with a little rapala you're talking shallow water casting, correct?
Thanks guys!!
I can't find any useful information on fishing the Fulton Chain, up in the Adirondack Mountains. Heading up to 7th/8th Lake this Friday for 5 days and really want to give it a go. I know the species include: SM Bass, Trout, and Salmon. The lakes are somewhat deep and I know from others a little challenging.
Anyone got any advice on either lake from any vacation trips? I would SO APPRECIATE it.
We are so lucky for this site, for this area.

I managed one Pike and one Bass using Shiners on the South End. Had TONS of bites Sunday AM, but they would not take the shiner for more than a min. They would hit, bobber gone and then right back up, like 8 times!!!
Tried a couple hours of trolling Friday Night. NADDA.
Sunday trolled on the way back from 10AM-Noon outside the docks with deep divers - NADDA.
Tried Bullhead in the inlet on Sunday w/worms. NADDA.
Got to be this Monster Moon. Worse Opening Weekend EVER at Conesus.
What about others? Silver? Conesus?
So how and where do you catch the Musky in Conesus? I've had GREAT success year after year fishing shiners about 3' down off a bobber down on the south end of the lake.
So anyone want to share some advice on Consesus for the opener? My success in the past has been trolling for eyes AFTER dark close to the docks with Yellow XRAP Rappalas, but NO EXPERT on the EYES.
Pike, South End of lake w/shiners. TONS of fun and almost guaranteed fish EVERY YEAR.
Any advice on night eyes?
Really, just cast.......Are there better spots than others on Conesus. Don't mind sharing, where I've caught my two. Both have been on the South End of the lake. One outside the Conesus Inn on the East Side, and then last year about 1/4-1/2 mile from the south end on the west side.
Went out Friday. Wind was coming hard out of South, so prob was better down at Vitale. Had a boat and my son, so wanted calm water so anchored down at the inlet. NOTHING. Not even a bluegill. Tried Chicken Liver and Worms. NADA.
The last couple of years, I've managed a single eye, each of the openers. Basically trolling with a XRAP (usually yellow), JUST outside the docks.
My question is, people say they get in close? How close? Like cast shore and real back?
Better trolling or casting?
Sinking or floating rapallas?
Should I get out a little deeper?
Fished it Friday 5/13 and Saturday 5/14. Water was way high as you can expect. Fishing was slow, but productive. Got a couple pike and one bass on shiners. Perch were biting off small minnows.
Everything else was pretty slow though.
