  1. Longspurs, Glad you found them. I made the mistake of going to Gator and Silver fox's secret Sodus spot that only God and the seagulls know. Apparently the seagulls got there before me. Got a few quick fish and then they vanished. We chased around a bit but never found anything more than dinks. One thing to note is that the ice varied a bit depending on where you were. I found only 6" out in 36' in a direct line with the channel. Further south into the bay and closer to shore were much better.

  2. Good Luck Tommy.  I hunted with you over at Keiths the other day.  I have been hitting the Java area the past two afternoons in a very quiet woods except for a very talkative owl. Lots of fresh sign but nothing while I'm there.  For some reason, I am seeing quite a few deer in the fields around there in the middle of the day. I might adjust my sit time.

  3. Jeez Less. I can't read all that without taking a nap:smile:

However, been there, done that. Sometime, we should deploy my polar and your tent. It would look like a new invention out there to some of the younger guys. I am getting, by way of Christmas a bunch of new toys including a new Legend xl thermal. Weighs 60 lbs but I have the millennium chair that I will put in instead of their chair to lower the weight. Then again, I'll  just let Gambel pull it. He won't notice the difference:lol:

  4. The fishing has gone downhill in Canandaigua compared to as little as four years ago. The guys that know the lake still catch perch, but not the numbers and size. The over harvesting must have taken place then. I would see well over 50 boats there every trip in the fall. Now a days, its just you and me and two other guys.

  5. I had 74 deg last wednesday. No lake run perch, just local resident population of small ones.  Maybe with this weather, they will be there.

  6. They were still out there today. Stupid easy fishing.  Too bad the weather looks bad for the rest of the week, but these fish should still be here all of September.

  7. All I can say is wow! If you have never been to Erie, make it a point to go. Anywhere between Sturgeon and Barcelona has been loaded with eyes. We got our 6th limit in a row today for four people by noon. Simply amazing.

  8. I have an almost brand new 13" 175X80 D load range C tire mounted on a one year old galvanized wheel for sale. I just recently used it as a spare to drive only 40 miles after getting a blow out on the Thruway. This is a Bias ply tire and I do not want to use it because all my other tires are radial. The price is $70.

    Thanks for looking.

  9. Whatever they want for a spot lock, buy it!  Made a big difference in my perch fishing both in Erie and the finger lakes.

  10. I talked to the launch guy at Hanover launch at the Cat on Monday. He said that last week, a couple of guys came in with 96 perch but the guys next to them had 16. I have heard of a few others that have hit them off the Cat a few weeks ago and saw people set up on the perch beds in 55' straight out when I came in. In my opinion, I think they were around because of the cold water upwelling in that area last week that drove the bait in followed by the perch. I did mark schools of something on the bottom in 75-80' but all the eyes I caught out there were spitting up smelt. I think those bottom fish were probably smelt and not perch. Good luck if you try and let us know.

  11. Erie is simply amazing this year. another two man limit in less than two hours. We were out of the Cat in 70+ . Harnesses out 5 and wire dipsey setting 3, 90' back did the trick.

  12. Great day out of buffalo today.  Everyone had fish and we boxed out. From 40’ out to the fence.  Lead core and harnesses worked the best.

  13. I have  a slightly smaller boat and fish both lakes.  The time of year you are talking about is generally good for both and you should average about four or five fishable days a week on both lakes.  If you want walleyes, NymphO is right on. I might add that you do not have to go to Barcelona to get them.  There are a few state parks along the Erie shore for camping around the Cat and the fishing there is pretty good.  If you do get a blow off day on Erie, you can take a short ride to the Niagara and catch bass or just visit the falls.
