my dad and i went 3 for 5 out there last night. we got a smallish king and a steelie on a bloody death SD on the 85 rigger and we got a 22lb king on the 240 wire with a silver and purple spoon. we just got the wire setups so it was sweet to get that big rip!! it was our first 20+ so we were high fivin up a storm while the boat was doin figure 8's lol my dad w/ the king. the smile says it all!!

i just ordered a 6" nils from fish 307 on monday it arrived tuesday afternoon! im jonesin to try it out with all the good things i've heard about them, but being its still deer season i prolly wont get to till next weekend.

sweet buck man!! we were doin some drives a few years ago at the end of season an my dads buddy shot a 6pt still in velvet. it was pretty cool so we flip it over to gut it an it had girl parts!! apparently it happens every so often like a bearded lady lol he got it mounted with the velvet still on i dunno how they preserve it. i dont really like the mount though its got its head all turned around licking a branch..def not what i would choose for somethin sweet like that!

Thanks everyone for the congrats! as for the shot placement i would have rather shot him right in the boiler room but he was facing straight on and had me pinned down so it was one of those now or never things. now he's in the freezer and his head is at the taxidermist, which by the way its a good thing i dont shoot many big bucks cuz that could get expensive real quick congrats to all who have slayed and good luck to those who havent

well my opening day started off like ususal i turn around and there is a guy sittin 100 yards from me..i didnt let it get me down though cuz i was in a stand an would be able to see the deer long before he could he must of had ants in his pants cuz he couldnt sit still for more then 30 seconds!!! anyhow about 9 am i see what appeared to be a horse sneaking thru the woods an thought oh geat this is all i need till he lifted his head an i saw all the bone. he winded me an was standing straight on in the thick stuff so i put it on his neck an pulled the trigger an he took off. i was about to puke and cry all at the same time so i got down an walked over there and there he was under a pine tree kinda like an early christmas present

i bought some last year but they werent the quick spin, they were the blazer size though. they are mint, just heat up the water slide the fletches on the shaft and dunk it in for a few seconds. it really cuts down on time and they are very durable ive been shooting 2 arrows all summer that i slayed with last fall

It was an awsome time on the water though and got to get my buddies some good action for thier first times ever out! this guy started the morning out and i was plenty happy with that... then we doubled up and we were going off the wall we were so excited!! i was reseting the lines and this beast came up and whaled the spoon on the surface so i grabbed the rod and the battle was on! we had a 2 hour lull after that and were in a daze when this sucker grabbed the spinny on the 85 rigger and almost spooled me. i would just start gettin some line on it and he'd take off again so we cleared the lines and chased him down usually im happy if we get 1 or 2 when we go out but i was out of my mind on saturday!! i think my buddies driving like idiots had a little bit to do with it Again i have to say thank you to everyone that posts on here, without you guys alls i'd be catchin is a buzz

thanks a lot for the help guys i really appreciate it!! we're headin out for our first trip of the year saturady. it sounds like i have all i need to hook up, so now i just need to go spend some time and figure it out. This site is mint!! we never used to have much luck when we would troll the big o but since ive been on here it has really helped a lot! I still havent had a day where we just tore em up, but if we catch just one it makes the whole trip worth it for us. i will report on how we do. Thanks again!! mark

ok guys and girls i would like to go out and catch a laker or 2 this weekend but i really have no idea where to start...im workin with basic equipment (manual down riggers and a hand held gps) and i have a couple questions to maybe help boost my odds of getting one. i have spin docs and flies and more freakin spoons than NK, so what im wondering is what colors are generally good, how long should i go with my leads, and what is a general speed range to try? any help i can get is much appreciated! from what i gather most guys dont target lakers really, but i think they look sweet and would like to cross them off of my list of things to catch. great job on the big bass!! i was one of the guys out there with ya saturday, did pretty well on the gills got enough keepers for a meal plus a big bass. went back on sunday with the family and filled up a bucket of nice gills and a couple more bass. be careful out there the ice was pretty thin in some spots and would crack if a couple ppl were standing too close. definately a good spot to bring kids or girlfreinds.good luck to all!!

Time out, i completely agree with you. where we hunt its the same situation, deer for the first few days then they move into the blocks that dont get hunted. and it seems like every year there is less and less people out to move the deer around. it stinks when you put the miles on all day long for maybe 1deer and then see 10 of them standing out in a field where 1 guy has exclusive permission and he's home watching football or christmas shopping and as far as the coyotes go i didnt think much of only seeing/killing bucks and big does till the snow fell and there was devil dog tracks EVERYWHERE!! i think they must have fiested on the fawns in the spring because all my family got this year was bucks and big fat swamp donkeys...thats a good thing but ususally there is at least a couple skippers that get shot on "accident". here's one i slayed yesterday

Nice report!! our morning wasnt quite that good but for a bunch of rookies we did ok. we stopped in about 230 fow and before everything was set up a rod released and line was screamin off the reel. being the nice son that i am i handed the rod over to mom and shortly after that it spit the hook...thats how most of the mornin went, with 5 fish on and only 1 to the boat, but heck it was the most action we've ever had on the big pond. Everything hit on green spin docs with green and white flies about 100 feet down. Lookin forward to goin up again now that we are gettin the hang of things this site has helped a ton!! tight lines!!!!
