Whatever you cover it with has to be well supported everywhere. Snow gets heavy fast. You can’t have too much support. I’ve used all kinds of wood, lawn furniture, conduit, pvc pipe, you name it. Try to keep it brushed off. Be careful using a shovel as you can easily rip the cover. Like the other guy said,a tarp over the boat cover will let a lot of snow slide off. I’ve kept my boats outside forever but this weekend I have arrived. I’m moving and have indoor boat storage at last.

Wow. At my current pace I will get #600 around 2060. I’ll be 108 then. Might shave a couple years off if I retire. Anyway, sorry in advance for holding things up at the launch and any rigs I sideswipe on the way out.

with my chart plotter back in the factory we spent the first few hours lost in the fog. Water was 56 and filthy. Never saw a fin. Gave up at 2. Still a good time, thanks for putting this on

Perhaps the 36” minimum is paying off there? A 36” tiger has been around a bit and seen a lot of baits. Probably been caught. The minimum should be at least 36” everywhere if not higher. Everyone who targets these fish releases them anyway so they won’t care. Could save some fish from the pan.

We've seemingly got the trolling down and caught some good fish year (one lucky lure has gotten 6-8 musky so far) - I'd like to catch a musky casting still.
Any tips on lures or depths to cast at? I get trolling - looking for bait balls & fish, adjusting depth of lures to target, but I'm not sure what I'm really looking for as far as casting goes.
If I was fishing for largemouth I'd be casting at docks, structure etc.
West side of Waneta is more of a gradual dropoff where East side is steep.
Are the musky in shallow in fall? If so, are you casting right to shore and retrieving back to boat? Or are you targeting the bottom of the lake with a bulldowg or similar?
Only tip I can give is stay at it. I caught one Saturday on the west side in 2 fow. It hit a black/nickel super girl. Not a magic bait, just what I had on as I waded through the box. I don’t have a bait I can recommend other than what you have tied on when you find a hungry one. It’s hard to see followers there so it’s extra important to play the bait around at the end of the cast. Make enough casts, you’ll get one. Fishing pressure on them will be easing up now. Next couple weeks should be good.

Results are on chapter 69 Facebook page. Roughly 53 entries caught 14 fish. Zach and Katia were first with 4 in the boat. Big fish was 37.5. I forgot the rest.

You guys should fish our tournament on 10/5/19 there. That many would probably win.

Pretty cool. Easiest recognizable marks on that fish for me are the “MT” on its cheek.

West winds in Clayton. Super secure docking. 56 steps down to docks though. But I’m 67 and still good there.

i went to check out the docking situation at our rental. Dock was full of small bowfin wallowing around. I pushed them all back in and didn’t they start coming back up through the spaces in the deck boards. I couldn’t keep up. They’re on their own now.

This is what i run in my lowrances. Just bought a second card for my bow unit for casting since i dont have it linked to my dash units. This is definitely what you want for the Larry. As long as it is compatible with the Hook. I run HDS’s.

I do a week on the river in the same place every September on the same week. A group of four walleye guys are always there at the same time. They are good at it. Every morning they bring back a four man limit and go back out every evening for another.

in This Old Boat
Posted
I put a merc 9.9 on my boat this year. I want to hook up the electric start over the winter. What size wire do I use? Thanks. Easier to ask here than google it.
