  1. Two questions,if you register on line and print/sign the release form can you get there late and still be in? A friend asked me who wants to go but can’t get there until 8 or so. Also, there was some discussion earlier on allowing fish under 30” to be entered for a point or two. How did that end up? I don’t care either way I just want to be clear. Thanks

  2. IMG_1831.JPGwhile shopping for a new winch strap I came across a nice two speed winch. Seemed like just what this broke down old coot needed so I bought it. So my old one is up for grabs,no charge. Works fine, needs a strap. Located in Palmyra. Text me at 315 879 8787. Don’t call,I can’t hear it ring.

  3. Today I read that chapter 70 and the DEC were going to put some stocked tigers in pens instead of directly into the lakes. As I understand it this would give the fish a chance to recover from the stress of transport and hopefully more would survive. Hat’s off to those involved and I hope it works. I witnessed the tiger stocking at Conesus once;disoriented fish were all over the launch and nearby shoreline. Nice job 70 and good luck.

  4. I was told by a mechanic that because the impellers are made of a nylon or plastic material when they sit for long periods of time as in over the winter during storage they can get ever so slightly deformed with extreme changes in temperature and sitting an a single position and that is all it takes to make them fail to operate properly

Makes sense. Maybe I’ll start turning the motor over every couple weeks in the winter. Sure I will [emoji12]

  5. Agreed. The impellers I replace look like new. But the first failure messed up a vacation so I play it safe now. And like sk8man only the best oil and gas for me.

  6. 13 years is pretty good impeller life! Mine failed after the first year. The boat was still under warranty so I took it to the dealership where they nailed me $300 for it because impellers aren’t covered. I was kind of shocked to see the manual said to replace it yearly. Changing it every other year has worked for me though. I can do it in 20 minutes now.

  7. I have a 2008 merc 150. Mine is a efi,not the opti max. I bought it new. The first year it acted up and they replaced all the coils under warranty. I change the plugs and filters every year and the impeller every other. It has never failed or been in the shop for anything. (I probably just jinxed it) My 18 foot boat can just hit 50mph. I have no numbers but it seems to use a lot of fuel. I use a gallon of 2 stroke oil a year. IMG_1389.JPG

  8. I have a lowrance and a garmin on my boat. Both are 10 years old, outdated but they work. I’ve been wanting to upgrade for a few years now but when I research it gets too complicated and makes my head ache. There’s too much to choose from so I just get along knowing how deep it is and where the shoals are.
