  1. Our group will be hitting the road 6:30-7 as well to get up there and get the midday bite! Can't wait, although I blew out my knee yesterday which sucks but uncle jack should help me fight through the pain ;) If not I will be hte guy on the bucket with 2 rods

  2. I spooled my meduim to heavy rod combos with 10lb seaguar floro, I have used braided for lakers and it will tend to freeze up a bit morethan straight floro but you obviously getthe stretch. Since we shouldn't be fishing to deep I would think all floro should work.

  3. I shot 3 yotes during archery with a 22 one got away in the corn the others went 40-50 yards and piles up, not the biggest caliber but well placed shot it def takes them out. The reason I used it was for the low impact, the 7mm-08 isn't as stealthy ;) Most likely they will run a distance unless you head shoot them.

  4. Looks like there was yesterday and it is suppose to get and stay colder

JAN 7TH "Joe and I were out on 5″ of hard black ice yesterday morning and had a decent morning with 9 walleye and a gigantic perch iced between the two of us. Unfortunately the warm temperatures of the day quickly softened the ice. We were off the ice mid day taking care of a few things [...]"

JAN 10TH "With the drop of temperatures again on Saturday evening and Sunday we were able to make it out for a quick scouting trip on Sunday night. The ice was hard and clear again. Monday was mild, but we managed another quick trip out for the last hour before dark resulted with a good number of smaller class [...]"

Reports forn Steves contact the WQuinte Ice team

  5. But we all know that you wanted to be :D

I bet if you put that auger off the end of a jonboat you might be able to use like a motor to get out to those perch...

In the words of George R.R. Martin, "Winter is coming". It just happens to be Old Man Winter this year, and it's taking awhile (no offense to our respected elders on this forum):rofl:

Now that would be a funny sight! I feel for you B I purchased a new Clam Kenai this year adn I cna't tell you how many times I have fished my basement floor but all I catch is rock bass :D Hopefully we will get some epic action on the Quinte!

  6. I know we all have screws loose but you gotta have a few extras loose if you are dumb enough to venture out on 1-3" of ice that just got made during weather conditions like this for a stinking fishy. Not worth the risk gents, just not worth it, no matter how much you just spent on a brand new propane auger

  7. Def give the Lowrance x67 a look you will really be impressed it not only gives realtime like you have on a baot but if you prefer you can turn it to the sonar which is jsut like a Vex, plus you have the bonus of hooking it up to a boat in the summer they run 220-300.

  8. Not sure Tom, they were grinding ducks down there the October opener maybe it has changed since then. Jimmy, Todd, and I hunted yesterday from around 1:30 till sunset and man what a epic day. We got on a big pond that usually is froze in the late season and the birds just kept coming in droves and worked the calls and dekes perfect we had the best day I ever had duck hunting. Limited out on ducks and pretty close to the same on geese we had to stop shooting we did so well. Days like that are never to be forgot thats for sure.

  9. We hunted Conesus and it was pretty much the same story, saw some big flocks in the air but they were in the stratosphere, not that I want to admit this but we did dust a big group of coots that came into our spread  not much shooting around the lake nad hardly any in the south end swamp. Hopefully some areas lock up and birds start to concentrate otherwise this season will suck like the rest of the seasons.

  10. Doh! that looks lieka livewell full of tastyness! I recommend you go get some free ones in a local creek, I looked in a few creeks a couple weeks ago and had no problemo finding them in abundance.

Steve we need to get out sometime seeing how we live around the corner form each other.
