  1. Try this. I took a nice 4lber from Canan the other night filleted him up cut fillets into 3-4"chunks and soaked in buttermilk for 3-4 hours.Got a packet of McCormick Beer batter added some garlic powder, old bay seasoning and some red peeper flakes along with about 1/2 to 3/4 bottle of saranac Black and Tan (mmmmm) heated up sunflower oil in a cast iron skillet dipped the fillets in the batter and dropped them in about 1-2 minutes per side till brown took them out drixxled some red wine vinegar over the hot fish and served it with spicy cocktail sauce and tartar with a side of homeade fries and slaw. Man what a delish meal that rivelled any haddock fry I've ever had.:beer:

  2. The key to early bear in the mountains is food food food, Corn fileds are hard to come by but are a great source however I thnik the #1 source to get a bear in the early season would be locating a old apple orchard. Bears can't seem to resist apples in the fall and they generally don't hang out to far away. I'm not sure you have to do much backpcking most mast crop areas will be closer to the roadways

  5. Nice! I saw you guys out just south of us was wondering how you guys were making out. Seemed to be lots of bait and fish around them but not as active as I thought they would be thought maybe the flat water messed them up. Did you see the bait pods skimming the surfacr? We passed 4 or 5 big pods of bait right on top.
