Hey guys, I know this isn't a fishing report but looking to see if anyone has any info. My family would like to rent a cottage for a few days, not an entire week, in the finger lakes region. We're coming from Buffalo. I mostly only see weekly rentals available. I was wondering if anybody knew of any places to stay for 2-3 nights. Waterfront preferred and a place for a 2 year old to run around with his dump trucks. Thinking of Wednesday to Friday/Saturday anytime late July through August.
Thanks.

Let me know if deal falls through. Thanks.

Fish grips! Best money I ever spent for handling walleye!

PFD wouldn't have saved him if he was in the water for any period of time. Sad news. They still haven't found him.
No but would have increased his chances.

Yep...buddies were scouting eyes in Canadian waters Sunday and marked lots of perch with nobody fishing them.

Ask the local tackle shop whats been productive, I run mostly SS and regs. I am far from an expert tho. Good quality and great customer service.

Another sad story. I know this was posted on the north shore thread. If you fish solo fellas, like I often do, where your life vest. I know it doesn't guarantee survival but it sure as hell would increase your odds and at least let authorities locate you much easier.

Gill-T, there was a great day bite off Buffalo a couple weeks ago but since the wicked Northeast blow a week ago fishing has been slow. Pick a few here and there but nothing crazy. It's still early in the year for the day bite to really take off, things should improve once the lake gets into the low 60's.
That being said my father and I were talking while out on the lake fishing Sunday about the lack of emeralds around this spring. Very unusual year. SBH and EBM were loaded for a couple days back in May but other than that the upper and harbor has been pretty void of bait.

Moor recommends running your rigger with cable straight off the back of the boat. It is much easier for me to reach the release when run off the side of the boat. Has anybody experienced the cable chaffing or being damaged when run perpendicular to the stern?

Catching steelhead on free sliding cheaters can be exciting. On more than one occasion I saw the fish leap out of the water before noticing the rod thumping. Quite exciting if I may say.
What he said. Gets the blood flowing for sure.

Just this spring I caught a 15 lb king on a free slider and a 10 lb laker off the rigger spoon simultaneously. Pretty crazy. I always run an 8mm bead above the swivel. Just preference I guess.

Sounds awesome. How was the lake today? Stayed home with how wicked it was blowing last night.

I'm no expert but I've never used snubbers. One more connection for something to go wrong. Just have your drag set right and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the input fellas. Such a great resource.

If you run copper straight off the back of the boat and don't deploy all the copper should I have a twilly tip or roller tip on the rod?
-
Yep, some good stuff there. Picked up a bunch of spoons at garage sales and have multiples of most. I've somehow accumulated quite a few spoons the past couple years since getting into lake o fishing. When you usually fish solo, you can only run so many at a time.
cbuehler, sent you a PM
