  1. To help raise much needed funds for the Bait Fish Fund I'm asking that each person who has a table at the Lure Swap or is going to the Swap to please donate a lure or two that will be placed on a Raffle Table to benefit the Bait Fish Fund at the Lure Swap! Thanks, Capt. Larry
  2. Zach,Thanks again for all your help that you do to make the Chautauqua Bait Fish Fund successful. You should be getting an email or call from Ryan Marlowe who owns Figure 8 Tackle Shop in Kenora,Ontario soon as well.Good to hear your staying busy this winter building baits. Capt. Larry
  3. Jerry, enjoy every one of these days fishing with your son, they grow up quick! Welcome to LOU! Capt. Larry D. Jones
  4. St.Croix PM86XHF 8'6" XH is the one to get! www.fishusa.com for no tax and free shipping. Capt. Larry
  5. Ronix 51, If your going to cast bulldawg pounders, yes you would be better off with an XH rod. But if your going to mostly cast Mag Dawgs or Double Cowgirls etc. the Hvy will work fine. The St.Croix Premier 8'-6" Hvy rod even though it is marked Fast has a stiffer tip then the 9' Okuma Rod.There are a few fishermen from the NMA using the Legend Tournament 8'-6" Hvy rods for big Red October tubes and Storm Fireye Swim Shad, both with heavy weight, those rods are only in Hvy.I would go to the Bass Pro store in Auburn and pick one up and hold it in hand,if they have one there. St.Croix will be at the World Fishing Show in Sufren,NY,they are at the Spring Fishing & Boat Show by the Toronto Airport now.Jim Saric & Pete Mania are both talking there this Sunday & Monday as well, plus lots of muskie tackle and some killer crankbaits from basement guy's there as well. Capt. Larry
  6. I agree calling people "local redneck scumbags" is definately giving the wrong message to promote change. Like it or not you can educate people about catch & release of muskies, but some are going to keep fish anyway, even out of season.Changing sizelimits is a very long proccess and sometimes you can't change the thinking of the Warm Water Fisheries Official's of the NY DEC in Albany. The only control we have right now to help our NY State Muskie Fisheries is to continue to try to educate other fishermen in a nice way and to support the Chautauqua Bait Fish Fund, through either fishing one of the Tourney's or by Donating to the Bait Fish Fund. The money from the Bait Fish Fund is used to purchase Extra Fathead Minnows to feed the Musky Fry at Prendergast Hatchery. The Extra Bait Fish mean extra growth in the Musky Fry,Bigger Musky Fry when stocked have a much better chance of survival to get to adult size.Chautauqua Lake is not the only perbred muskie water that benifits from the Bait Fish Fund, all other waters including Waneta Lake will get these Extra Growth Muskie Fry from this project.Over time you will see more muskies in all NY state PureBred Muskie Waters because of the Bait Fish Fund. This is under our control, please support the Bait Fish Fund! 10. Use 25 ft 12 lb mono, then 5 colors of 60 lb test Leadcore and put out 25 ft of main line 12 lb mono at 1.7 mph with a copper with orange tape worm harness.60 lb Leadcore has heavier lead. Capt. Larry D. Jones
  11. Have we waited long enough to start another Bait Fish Fund Lure Raffle on eBay? Stan Durst has some special baits he is painting and I believe Zach has a few more lures as well.Would March 1st as a start date be ok? Thanks, Capt. Larry
  12. Here is another good set of Pike Spoons! http://www.northlandtackle.com/Category ... af?cat=247
  13. Solgrande and I have be posting Musky Road Rules Flyers every where! Zach handed out some Flyers at the Butler Fishing Show. We need to get everyone that is going to Musky Road Rules Buffalo to get a friend to go as well and yes bring the wife & kids, they are free! Capt. Larry

  16. Zach, Did those lure grabbing muskie maniacs at the Butler Fishing Show clean you out of lure stock? I would have bet you did very well there. Capt. Larry D. Jones
  17. We have 10 tables rented so far,3 are lure mfg. Still time to get $20 in for your table! Capt. Larry D. Jones
  18. Ronix 51, The split grip allows your hand to slide down into the same position every time you cast, you will find it very comfortable. All my casting rods now have split grips. If I were to purchase on rod for crankbaits and suckers it would be the St. Croix Legend Tournamet 8'-6" Hvy Swing Blade Rod. Longer rod means easier longer casts, deeper and easier figure-8's at the boat and easier to work fish around the outboard motor or front electric trolling motor if they head there. I have been on St.Croix Factory Team for 20 years, this rod in my mind is the best rod they ever built! Capt. Larry D. Jones
  19. We now have 6 Tourney Entrants,Ray J. got a 2nd Entry for his fishing partner for the Tourney, but we still need 4 more to sign up to cover start up expenses. Capt. Larry
  20. Zach,I'll be totaly broke by the time the start of the season gets here,I definately will have to buy two of each color to start with! Excellent Work! Capt. Larry D. Jones
  21. Johnson Silver Minnow Spoon, tipped with an Emerald Shinner! Capt. Larry D. Jones
  22. I talked to Tony Grant at the Michigan Muskie Show about how the signup was going for the Musky Road Rules Buffalo,so far the signup has been very slow,Only 12 so far! Guy's we need to get a much bigger showing to insure a return of Musky Road Rules Buffalo for 2012.Any possability of having a Muskie Show in Buffalo will depend on a good showing at Musky Road Rules as well,if we can't get a turnout there the thinking of those on the outside, that would set up a Musky Show here, would think it a waste of time! If we were to get the International Muskie Show here in Buffalo or Niagara Falls,NY we would be able to raise large amounts of money for the Chautauqua Bait Fish Fund & the NMA Conservation Fund,by having raffle tables at the show and shareing in the door money. So please consider signing up and going to Musky Road Rules Buffalo, this is urgent! Capt. Larry D. Jones
  23. Oldman, has signed up for two Tourney Entries. Now we have 5 Entrants, need 5 more to cover startup expenses! Capt. Larry
  24. Got up at 2:30 am to get down the road toward the Michigan Muskie Show.Roads were clear all the way to Toledo,Ohio, then it turned to a hard show fall as we got to the Show parking lot.The Michigan Muskie Show was a great venue, the Tuff Shad Booth had to restock the shelves 10 minutes into the show. Many great vendors and also good speaker line up.Got a couple SD Baits to try, kinda like Wileys in 6" jtd, also got some more H2O Cranky X 7" crankbaits in Niagara Walleye & Foil Walleye colors. Over all we had a great time. I will be helping Greg who runs the Michigan Muskie Show look at the possability of having the 1st International Muskie Show at the Seneca Niagara Casino Events Center the 1st weekend of April 2012. When we came out of the show to go to the truck to head back home at 6:15 pm there was 8" of fresh snow and more falling. We passed about 40 different incidents of car collision's or cars off the road on the slow in the snow 7 hour ride home,we got back to my house 1:15 am.. But well worth the road trip!
  25. I have a friend now all set to make the road trip to Michigan Muskie Show,so the seating is now full! Capt. Larry
