  1. I heard from a good source that casting has picked up in the shallows 5 to 7 foot of water in the back of the Mayville Flats, black Suicks! The deep trolling fish have moved back up to 20 ft suspension from 25 ft and moved in to 30 to 32 ft of water.Slow down to 4.0 mph as well! See everyone this weekend! Capt. Larry D. Jones www.mostlymuskies.com/reports.htm
  2. Fish still down 25 ft but moved from 38 ft to 33ft water in the North Basin, trolling speed is now down to 4.0 mph, water temp is 64 degrees.Anyone getting in the Tourney now will have to stop by the Mayville launch on Oct 2nd between 6:00 am to 9:00 pm to get Tourney Button & Release Form! Capt Larry
  3. Musky Lips, The Surgery was from a trebble hook that got in my hand when a pleasure boat ran over and stopped 10 ft from a 50"er in the net that I was unhooking. The wake from the boat caused the water to rise 4 ft and the muskie thrashed and when the water came down I got snagged on the back of the hand by the crankbaits tail hook.50"er thrashing pulling the hook point in deep, client cut hook to close and tendons pulled hook into my hand between the nerves and tendons.Fish two more days before surgery to remove the hook.Anyone besides Ray J going to send in their Entry Fee? NMA Meeting Seminar on Chautauqua Lake tonight ,then back to Chautauqua Lake for 12 days on the water with clients. Capt. Larry
  4. Bob,I will head down to Chautauqua in the morning. The heavy winds will give out a few practice waves as we head for November and the Buffalo Harbor.Every big wind so far has produced a 48" to 50" musky to my boat for a short visit.Ray's six muskies in one day with me was when the winds were 22 mph out of the NW as well! Capt. Larry D. Jones www.mostlymuskies.com/reports.htm
  5. Bob,This Sunday will be good fishing right after Friday & Saturdays 30 mph SW winds and heavy rain! Could be some big ones caught then! Capt. Larry
  6. As of today we still only have 21 fishermen signed up for the Oct. 2nd Tourney. Who is going from LOU? Fishing is still Hot at Chautauqua Lake ,now at 111 muskies in 42 days of fishing! Capt. Larry D. Jones www.mostlymuskies.com/reports.htm
  7. Wednesday started out good in the morning a scrappy fat 39 1/2" and a fat 42 1/2"er by 10:00 am.Then it was a lure wash till dark from that point on.I was out driving Dr.Dave Palo around in his boat, spending some time on the water with him in thanks for the surgery to my hand to remove the hook back in July, great friend to fish with as well! Now reached 100 muskies in 38 days of fishing!
  8. Ray, The Tourney sign up has been slow so far, only 11 at the present time, but I just mailed out the Tourney Info the other day.I'm sure many will start signing up very soon! Capt. Larry
  9. Zach, I would paint it Yellow Belly Brown Perch!
  10. All the charter captians have been running out deep to 115 to 120 feet of water, but still only averageing 5 to 7 eyes each trip. Most of the eyes are in 90 ft off Purina over the canadian line out of Dunkirk. Capt. Larry D. Jones www.mostlymuskies.com/reports.htm
  11. Chad,My brother took all the pictures of the Steelhead & Kings, once he sends them my way I'll post a few,he also got married and is in Mexico on his honeymoon, but he waited till we got done fishing before he got hitched.I did 7 days of guideing on the Skajit River in the Cascade Mtns & Hoh River in the Olympic Mtns.More steelhead then salmon were caught. The Oct 2nd date was not ment to take away from the Waneta Tourney, that was the only date Mayville had open for the facilities. Mr. Toothy is going to try to move the date for Waneta either the weekend before or after Oct 2nd.This way all can fish both--EXCEPT CHAD!!!! Brad, sorry I did not have an open date when you called,I was in the middle of Seattle rush hour traffic when you called so could not chat much. Capt. Larry
  12. The Hi-Fins do have a problem with the bolts coming loose from the molded inserts,so I put star washers on them and tourge them tight. The screw towards the head I replace with one slightly bigger in diameter and longer in length, putting super glue in the hole before tightening.Super glue and closed cell polyerathane foam work very good together for any Hi-Fin mends as well! One thing is to not bend the 90 degree bend accross the lip if the lure runs one direction.Instead bend a 1/8 inch side wing on the lip on the side it is running out to,this will pull it back to running true.Sometimes the ones that don't run straight out bof the box, with adjustment of added bent wing on the lip catch more fish, they kick to the side they wanted to run out on and the bend brings it back to center. This little side to center kick gets more hits! If you bend the 90 degree bend you will fight with the lure forever ,never getting it to run right.Three pull settings on the Niagara Lip,near nose is deep high close vibration setting, hooking both split rings together on the snap is the intermediate depth setting with more action and near the end of the lip stting is the shallow most active setting. Capt. Larry D. Jones www.mostlymuskies.com/reports.htm
  13. After returning from Washington State I returned to Chautauqua Lake on Friday, but had an electrical short from the ignition switch to starter.Got that problem fixed by Saturday mid day and got in the afternoon catching 41" & 33" muskies.Back out with Dr. Dave Palo on Sunday, tough day managed a 35" & 32" muskies. Then on Monday I went Zippo! Went back out from 1:00 pm on Tuesday to fine vtune the trolling program.First thing noticed was the bait fish and muskie hooks were now 5 feet deper at 25 foot level.Increased the amount of line out to 6 colors(180 ft) of 60 lb Lead Core with the Wiley's and 5 colors (150 ft) with the Legend Perchbaits, both trolled at 5.2 mph.Using two rods one with a Perchbait in Niagara Walleye and one with a Wiley Brown Perch 5 1/2" Jtd,caught a 47" Fattie on the Perchbait and 43" & 35" muskies on the Wiley,in three hours of fishing by myself. Program is now 25 ft down at 5.2 mph in 34 to 37 ft of water! 93 muskies in 35 days of fishing so far. Capt. Larry D. Jones www.mostlymuskies.com/reports.htm
  14. Terminator's do not preform as good as Wiley's! Over time they soak up water and get even more heavy, slowing the lures action even more.Buy Wiley's you will catch more fish. Capt. Larry D. Jones www.mostlymuskies.com/reports.htm
  15. Only one to signup so far has ben Ray J. I hope we can get a full field of 100 fishermen for this event as well. Back from Washington State today!

Capt. Larry
  18. Zach,Congrads on a Nice Fat 50"er! Capt. Larry
  19. It has been a good walleye bite from Brocton Water Tower to Barcelona as well in 65 to 70 ft of water.CopperBlades with Orange Tape Harnesses 185 ft back on Dipsey's set on #3 as well.1.7 mph was the best trolling speed. Capt. Larry D. Jones www.mostlymuskies.com

Same lead core program,4 colors of 60 lb lead core out,5.5 mph, starting with Wiley 5 1/2 inch Jtd in natural colors till 10:30 am and after the fish move from 34 ft to 37 ft depths I go to the Hi-Fin Magnum Trophy Divers Jtd.The Wileys are down 20 ft and the Hi-Fin Trophy Divers with Niagara Lip are down 30 ft.Back out this afternoon with Dr. Dave! __________________ Mostly Muskies Charters & Guide Service Captain Larry Jones Web Site: http://www.mostlymuskies.com
