  1. You can not target fish that are out of season in NY State! If when fishing for other fish that are in season and you catch a fish that is not in season the fish is not to be removed from the water and is to be released imeadiatly without removing the fish from the water. Catching more of the same fish that is out of season from the same place means your targeting that species and that is going to get you in trouble.Seasons are there so that the fish species can spawn uninterupted! 3. The U.S. Coast Guard stopped every boat in the Buffalo Harbor last November enforcing the Life Jacket Law,more then once.It was then that I was informed that the type 3 PFD's that my clients were wearing had to be Type 1 from November 1st to May 1st.So then I followed up with a call to the Marine Safety Office Buffalo to get clarification on the Type 1 vs. Type 3 since it was a State not Federal Law.I was told a vessel for hire can only have Type 1 PFD's on board,so that is what must be worn.So I got rid of the key hole style type 1's and purchased the jacket style type 1's for this year! Capt. Larry
  4. The Prendergast Musky Hatchery on Chautauqua Lake has been treating the eggs with Iodine to kill all VHS for three years now,its working all musky fry tested are VHS free! Capt. Larry D. Jones Vice Pres. E.L.E.C.B.A.
  5. Yes,it does apply to Lake Erie & Lake Ontario, the U.S. Coast Guard will fine you if your not wearing a PFD.But then it goes further if your a Vessel For Hire, your required to have and wear (Type 1 )Life Preservers from Nov 1st to May 1st. Then the 21 ft rule is bow water line to stern water line! Your vessel on paper may say 21ft but that is the anchor pulpit to swim platform, bow water line to stern water line may only be 18 ft! Capt. Larry D. Jones Vice Pres. E.L.E.C.B.A.
  6. All U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Charter Captians must have a T.W.I.C. card before they can operate. Those caught this year without the T.W.I.C. card will be fined and will loose their Merchant Marine Officers License. You also can't renew your License without getting the T.W.I.C. card first. If you watch closely what is going on in Minnisota on waters that you would have to take a canoe to get into those waters comming from sea, they are making a large number of guides get the U.S. Coast Guard License.Rummers I hear that those Homeland Security Controled Lakes will include many Lakes of size in multiple states in the near future. Those Lakes are listed on U.S. Coast Guard District Navigatable Lists, they include Finger Lakes and Chautauqua Lake.So in the near future those Guides may have to get a U.S. Coast Guard License and T.W.I.C. card as well. Capt. Larry D. Jones Vice Pres. E.L.E.C.B.A.

Look for jumping bait fish as you troll through, then keep pounding the bait fish pods. Then casting Suicks in all Black color between the Lakewood Bar & Derby Bar down the slot can get a 50"er in July as well! 16. There has been no public anouncement yet,but it looks like we were able to get NY State to keep the Boat Launch & Marina open at Long Point State Park on Chautauqua Lake.I would say the launch price will most likely go up in cost by two or three dollars, but it will be still open! Capt. Larry D. Jones Vice Pres. E.L.E.C.B.A.

  20. This past Sunday I found out that NY State was going to save only $43,000.00 by Closing Long Point State Park on Chautauqua Lake.Gee I wonder how much Tourisom Dollars will be lost, maybe in excess of $2 Million with no deep water boat launch on Chautauqua Lake open to the public. Capt. Larry D. Jones Vice Pres. E.L.E.C.B.A.
  21. We have 27 people signed up as of today! Be sure to get in by April 1st so your in the Drawing for the St.Croix Avid Rod of your choice! Capt. Larry
  22. I found out Sunday that Closing Long Point State Park will only save NY State $43,000.00!!!! I wonder how many dollars the Tourisom of the Chautauqua Lake Area would loose with Long Point State Park Closing? Most likely over 2 Million!! Capt. Larry
  23. I could not get the Double 10's deep enough with a fast retrive.Went to Stud Dog (like 3/4 legnth Eagletail),single thumper blade, big profile and began to catch fish! Capt. Larry D. Jones http://www.mostlymuskies.com
  24. With NY State Closing State Parks & Historical Sites one must understand that they are also looking at Hatcheries as well.It is very important right now that we are showing support for the Prendergast Musky Hatchery. The best way to do this is by fishing the June 19th Chautauqua Musky Cash Tournament or sending a donation to the Chautauqua Bait Fish Fund. From the Tourney & Donations we are hopeing to Purchase around $6000.00 worth of Fathead Minnows to feed the Musky Fry at Prendergast extra behond the regular number of Fathead Minnows put in each pond. These extra Fathead Minnows mean extra growth for the Musky Fry before being stocked in NY waters, better chance of survival! We need to show that many people care about Prendergast Hatchery and we are there in a support level, this is very important right now as NY State is looking every where to cut funds to get closer to state budget that is deep in the minus!
  25. One of the biggest losses for the state of NY for running a state park with boat launching facilities is Liability Insurance,Utilities Bill & Maintenance. The revenue brought in by park entrance and launch fees is less then what it costs for Liability Insurance,Utility Bills & Maintenance. For each Tournament I run on Chautauqua Lake with 100 or less fishermen entered it cost me $356.00 for Liability Insurance.I could only imagine the cost of Liability Insurance for a state park with a swimming beach, boat marina and boat launch would be for the whole year. But then again if Long Point State Park was changed over to a Campground along with the Marina,Swim Area & Boat Launch,it could pay for its self.Make 50% of the camp sites seasonal year rental and the other 50% daily and weekly rental.Being right on the lake it would be full all summer long! Capt. Larry
