Long Point State Park Marina at Chautauqua Lake is under lease,as I type people are working on getting the Launch Area added to that lease so the launch stays open. Capt. Larry D. 3. dirtyworm,If you decide that your definatly going to study for your Merchant Marine Officers License and take the test.Get a jump and apply for your T.W.I.C.(Transportation Workers Identification Credential) first,it may take three months to get it and the U.S. Coast Guard will not issue your Merchant Marine Officers License until you have it.You will also need Standard FirstAid & CPR training certificate before they will issue your license. You will need to belong to a Drug Consortum for random drug testing once you get your license as well.If you can't find a Drug Consortum near where you live we can help you with a membership to Eastern Lake Erie Charter Boat assoc.,drug testing costs if you get randomly picked is paid by E.L.E.C.B.A. from membership dues. 8. Long Point State Park is where 14+ Bass,Walleye & Muskie Tournaments go out of every year on Chautauqua Lake.Along with the Tourneys a good number of Tourists & Locals launch boats, have a picnic or swim at the beach.Closing Long Point would ruin the Tourisom to Chautauqua Lake, not to mention the stress there will be on the remaining small boat launches. I know Chautauqua County Tourisom Officials & Politicians were meeting friday & saturday to try to reverse the states thinking. As the Vice Pres. of Eastern Lake Erie Charter Boat Assoc. I will get each captian in our assoc. to either write a letter or email thier congressman about how these closings will put a good number of us out of business. It was bad enough that NY State went to $70 for a Non-Resident Fishing License, now eliminate Tournaments and take away places to launch thier boats, how many fishermen will travel to NY in 2010? Capt. Larry D. Jones Vice Pres. E.L.E.C.B.A.

  23. Zach,Ha Ha Ha! How about trading Bodies,This One Is Getting Old! Capt. Larry
  24. I have not totaly given up on trying to get an extended season on Chautauqua Lake.At the present time the DEC Warmer Water Fisheries People in Albany,NY are not going to budge from the season we have now.First thing said is the cost to reprint all NY Fishing Regulation Books with the change would cost more then money that would be recovered by having an extended season. It will be a tough battle to convince them other wise. Most of the Rental Cottages around Chautauqua Lake are old and not insulated to handle the cold weather of December or early April, water line freeze up etc.. We may need to make a different aproach to the NY DEC and ask for a 3rd Saturday in May Catch & Release Season to the 3rd Saturday in June. But then again the cost to print all the new type in the NY Fishing Regulations will come up agian,so we would have to show that out of state fishermen and local fishermen would spend enough money by taking part in May Muskie CPR fishing to have possitive dollar flow to the area.
