  10. I was jigging for Lakers the last weeks in August and the first week of September and did good in 60-70' of water without even a graph and hooked at least 5 or 6 each day. They all struck the lure hard. In August the Lakers did not fight much until they reached the surface and twisted so much most got off before I could land them.. In September the sizes were bigger and they fought all the way to the boat and when one hit I thought I was pulling the bottom out of the lake. I thought that it would be even better fishing for them now. I have not gone since because the launch was to low for my boat.
  11. Jigging in 60'-70' FOW. Did well on Lakers since mid August. Satuday landed a 10lb Laker, very strong fighter and an 8lb. on Sunday. Have been doing good on smaller Lakers since mid August and now they are getting bigger.
  12. While fishing in the spring on Summervile, I saw a guy land a nice "eye" on a red rattle trap. I weighted it on an official IGFA scale at 10 lbs. Beautiful fish.
  13. Jigged in the mornings with 2 oz butterfly jigs and landed 4 Lakers in 70-80' of water bouncing on the bottom. Color did not seem to matter.. In the shallow water nailing pike just under the surface later in the day.. They were fun and very aggressive, lots of jumps. Had a blast.
  14. I use Blue Lizard or Nutragena as recommended by my dermatologist. Already had basil cell removed
  15. A Fly that is used for Barracuda might work. It is a tube or represents a needlefish with yarn and hooks
  16. Hi I have benn jigging on Canandaigua for 3 years. . I have had good luck on the southern drop off for nice 5lb plus browns with a 1 & 1/4 oz spoon. I cast it out & count it down. Then I do a jig retrieve. I usually get the take on a fast retrieve. I am using Fluorocarbon 12lb test to enhance the drop. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  17. Did good today and caught 8 on the fly in 3 hours. There are some nice bass in the ponds and lots of carp.
  18. I have been fly fishing for over 45 years in this area and and all over. I have tried to troll with the fly rod. You would have to have an expensive reel to be able to have enough drag or hold on to the fly line and pinch the fly line with your fingers so it does not unroll. With this method, it is hard to find a rod holder to hold it because the reel is so close to the rod butt. The next hard thing to do is to get a fly to stay down because with the speed of trolling, the fly and line will want to stay up close to the surface, even with a sinking fly line. If you are serious, look into L L Bean, they are the only ones that have a rod and reel set up specifically for trolling. I have seen it in their catalog.
  19. I n Canandaigua, I was using a fly rod drifting with a 9wt. and an integrated sinking line (300gr) with a shiner looking Peglusie fly and had a laker follow the streamer up to the transom of the boat and it spooked when a wave hit the transom. I have been giging large 5" spoons at the drop offs with my spinning rod and go a couple of nice browns about 5lbs. on the retrieve!

Thanks very much.
