  1. It appears that the connecting rod is a solid one piece and does not change length. If the kicker is up and the main is down, wouldn't the distance be longer than if they were both down? I think you would have to disconnect it every time you lowered/raised one unit or the other.... Course if you don't raise and lower it 20 times a day it would be fine. Only down side would be leaning over the back of the boat to connect/disconnect it on the water. That's quite a lean on mine!
  2. Lakebound, http://www.discountmarinesupplies.com/M ... ACKET.html Think the TR-1 is a bit outside of my budget capabilities for this year. Sean, I like it's relative simplicity and apparent effectiveness, but I can't justify the $250 price tag for a rod and hose clamps.... We'll see how cheap I can get the kicker for. And all the other good stuff you're going to talk me into! Triple Deuce, Think you'll have any problems raising and lowering independently with that setup?
  3. Lakebound good find! A little pricey though. I'm used to getting my spoons off ebay for $2-$3 per spoon. Does have some neat color combinations and designs that I have never seen before. Maybe when I get my taxes back I'll give em a try. Never know, if that lunker has been caught by everything else growing up maybe he'll give something he's never had a try!!
  4. The new to me boat I got came with downrigger weights I'm not used to. In the past I just used cannonballs. These are like fish shaped, narrow, and have a moveable tail. I assume the tail is to make your rigger veer to the left or right.... Any opinions?
  5. Have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ650. Currently listed on craigslist. Selling it to buy a 15hp long shaft outboard. Runs great. Use it to commute between Horseheads and Corning. Gets 40-45 mpg at 70mph. Might be getting a job closer to home and if this year is as cold and wet as last year then I'd rather put it towards fishing anyway. Figured I'd give you guys a chance at it if anyone is interested.
  6. Here's an idea. Put a price on em. Each one brought to a certain location is worth 5 bucks. I know I'd take a trip up there with a skiff and a full load of ammo! End of problem!!! Probably be cheaper too!
  7. Here's the deal. I want to put a kicker on my boat this spring. Currently the boat has an i/o OMC Stringer outdrive. The only thing I've heard is to put a EZ-Steer bracket on it. However, the reviews aren't that great. Anyone know of any other options? I'd prefer not to steer off from the main because I don't want to worry about wearing something out. But if I got to then I got to.
  8. 70s? Oh that's right. That's the decade before I was born! Well, I don't want to ruin the fun so.......BOMP! (That's how us youngins do it!)
  9. SuperSki Dual Planer Mast. 2 SuperSki "reels" Line, springs, pulleys in great shape - like new Not sure how much line is on them but I've ran them 100ft off the side of the boat and still had plenty of line left. Have the base that attaches to boat, then the second base that connects mast to first base.... Just makes for quick easy removal. Also have a couple old wood planer boards I can throw in. Whole thing is like new. Mast is around 4-5 ft tall Let's say $175.... obo Too big to bother shipping. Located in Horseheads, ny. Getting rid of it cause new boat has rocket launcher and has planer reels on it I can run planers from. Items I will swap for: Copper setups Kicker bracket (15hp rated) Let me know what you got.... I can send pic from cell phone... Also, what does bump mean?
  10. Fish is nice! Background is incredible! Looks like a place I could retire at! Welcome!
  11. Lakebound, you'll have to check out my rocket launcher. Came with the boat. Guy made it out of galvanized pipe. Not the prettiest thing but functionality is top notch! My budget leaves my boat looking like a hodge podge!
  12. Well if Lakebound is going at it, I guess I better too! Might be able to make it out a couple weekends.... Love shift work!
  13. I say anything that can be done to keep something the way it was found and still able to be enjoyed is a good idea to me.
  14. I think cayuta (Shepherds Creek to us rednecks out that way) is the first creek I ever fished. Just wish that old diner was still there. Yeah it was run down and the FDA probably went ballistic but the food was great and the tip was usually more than the price of the food! I miss that place. There's something about watching an early morning rainbow jumping when the fog is still hanging around. Haven't been in a while. And I only live about 5 minutes from there. Think I'm going to have to make a trip! Let me know if you want some company sometime Kremer! Maybe we can even get lakebound off the ice for a trip!
  15. The "overflow" sites are a little bit of a pain because you are out in the middle of a field. But since we're out fishing all time who cares? Just make sure you strap your tent down real good in case we get some wind! The past 4 years I have been up there, the weather has been real warm and the water calm. Hasn't even sprinkled as I can remember. Course my memory doesn't go past the beginning of this post! The slips go on sale the 1st monday in april. If you get a campsite also, there is a discount. The campsite you have to get through http://www.reserveamerica.com . I love Sampson because it's got location, location, location. That and a lot of other people fish out of there, the marina is great for getting out on the water quick, and the bathrooms have showers (plug your nose on monday though!). Zebedee, Those sites get sold out the year before. The only ones available are the "overflow" sites. I like em cause they are the closest to the marina. They do sell out relatively quick so you better get on it. Lakebound, I think the boat has enough hp to pull a dingy along for you! Seriously though if you need some people jump on it. As it turns out I !might! only need one person so feel free to contact anyone who posts on here about getting on a boat.
  16. Double D!!!! You're the one who got those sites!!! You got them just a couple days before I went after them! I have friends from work at sites 301 & 302, and I'll be at 306. Know who's at 308? I'm thinking about picking up a propane deep frier and doing a fish fry one of those evenings. Maybe Monday after the tournament. You guys in? Usually we have a heck of a get together over at 301 so don't be afraid to stop by and say HEY!!! The guy at that site is named Jake. I'm Bob.
  17. Try working on a stringer outdrive. One of the reasons I learned how is because there isn't a marina in the area that would even listen to me after I say stringer. It's like the great taboo!!!
  18. Hmmmm.... Think I may have unintentionally let the cat out of someone's bag. Think I'm going to be blacklisted for exposing someone's fishing secret!
  19. Sean, You talking about during the derby? I'm sure we'd be up for it. Better wear my sunday's finest though! Can't be looking scruffy on that nice shiny boat of yours! Wonder if I can convince the better half to let me get one like that! Probably not. Have 3 boats out back right now that she's ready to sink me in!!! PS. My trick is to order stuff that will be delivered when she's at work or hide it up to the pole barn. I'll live a lot longer if she doesn't know about it!!!!
  20. The luhr jensen one is pretty sweet. Wish it came in different colors like the grease trap though.... LB, when I'm all done winning the tourney I'll let you borrow one!
  21. I don't run copper... yet. Bring them along if you'd like. I'm always up for learning a thing or two! Plus from what I've heard on here, if the riggers aren't working, time to throw in the copper Just wondering... If you have the boat and gear why aren't you taking it for the tourney?
  22. PS. I'd be using mostly on Seneca
  23. http://shop.bigweeniebrand.com/category ... egoryId=42 Saw these and thought they look useful..... Any thoughts? Riggin suggestions?
