  1. Pretty sweet! I was talking to the auto shop owner I usually go to and he was saying how he has a place down around tampa somewhere that he's more than willing to let me use.... Might have to take him up on the offer!
  2. LB88, I'm pretty sure I could make something out of fiberglass but I highly doubt it's this! I'd have it spraying fish water all over the bilge!
  3. Anyone know of a good fiberglass repair man in the area? My boat has two wells in the deck, but someone had cut the back halves out of them. I don't know if they did it to get to the drains better or to replace the stringers or something, but I would like to have at least one of them back.
  4. I must say the best weather I ever experienced was when I was stationed in Nevada. 110 degrees and less than 10% humidity! That was beautiful! You do get to missing rain and the color green though! I think the worse was Mississippi. They have ocean effect there! 100 degrees and 100% humidity! It's funny how it could be a beautiful day down on the beach playing with those darn jelly fish and a storm swings in out of nowhere, drops 4 inches of rain, and is gone in 5 minutes. All in all we do have it pretty good round here. Just ask someone from North Dakota!
  5. From what I understand he is just moving everything over to a building he has over there.
  6. That's what makes this little valley down here in Corning / Horseheads so beautiful. No lake effect like the guys above, and usually don't get the storms that hit PA. It's like a little oasis. I have lived all over NY. Grew up near Oswegatchie! None of you know what snow is until you spend a winter in the northern adirondacks!!!! I remember going out of the second floor window onto the porch roof, and walking right out onto the snow! I spent some time in Jamestown... Not quite the same amount of snow but it snows practically every night. Anywhere that snowmobiling is considered a basic method of travel and even the cops have decked out snowmobiles, is not somewhere I care to be!
  7. 80-100 hrs a week? You milking the chickens, dog, and cat as well?
  8. LB that is next week on the 18th. Tomorrow is Red Cross meeting...
  9. Wow. That's quite the life cycle! Never seen one but I would like to one day!
  10. I haven't got my outdrive back together yet to run it in the winter, but I can't see any way the water can make it into the engine unless you start it. Something I would probably do though is put an extra gallon of winterizer in the engine and turn it over a little bit just to take care of any water that comes in the exhaust. It's actually pretty simple. Water has to come in the intake by suction created by the water pump. Then is pumped into the engine and out the top of the manifolds into the exhaust. If there is no suction, the water won't get up to the water pump. The air that is in the outdrive between the water pump and intake holes would provide pressure against it i would assume. And unless the back of your boat goes under water, I don't see it making it's way up the exhaust to the manifolds. Most of the water that does get in the exhaust drains out when you pull the boat out. But I personally would turn it over with the winterizer just to make sure. my 2 cents....
  11. 80-100 hrs/week.... start at 230 am..... Reminds me of when I worked on a dairy farm..... Got one Chowder?
  12. Must be nice.... I spent my morning out in the woods cutting firewood.... How far away is March 27???
  13. It's like hitting a school of lakers.... Just relaxing and then WHAM!!! Everyone is jumping!
  14. Way to go Chowder... Ruined my day...
  15. Well if LB is going to do it I guess I better too! Split, pm me info.
  16. Sean, Plan on me going. I'm on overnights then too but just 8hr shifts so I'll be wide awake-ish.... So I have 4 people for the 'dollar on the 18th... Sorry if I kind of took over your thread here LB. I tend to be kind of an action guy! I'll buy you the first one to make up for it!
  17. Think I might show up if possible. Don't know how much help I'll be able to be as I do intend to be fishing that derby but I'll see what I can do. LB88, My schedule is free for Thursday the 18th. Who's up for meeting at the Sanddollar in Elmira around 6ish for a drink? They got good food too. Plus, it's the only joint I'm aware of that can accomodate 10-20 drunken fishermen without even getting close to crowded! The elmira ghetto crowd doesn't start showing up until 9-10 pm. Send your wives to the 2300 at CMoG that night for the wine and come down to the Fishing Den! Post if anyone want's to go....
  18. Kill the whole darn river. Any where there is asian carp just cyanide the whole area. Take a long time for the water to recover and then restock. From what I've seen of the muddy mississip there ain't much of anything in there that I'd worry about. If they can find a way to poison just the asian carp or something that'd be great but I would love to be able to expand my fishing from the fingerlakes to the big o some day. Once they get in the big o there won't be a way to get them out. Course if the big o gets them you know the fingerlakes are next. Imagine the only fishing to be had in the area is asian carp.... What's with the 3rd electric fence? Another 10 mil just to try to block them? If the other ones aren't working that great what use is a third? Just kill em all from the great lakes to the gulf of mexico any means necessary. Dump tons upon tons of salt into the river. Obviously they aren't big on salt water. Won't hurt running out of the mississippi basin into the ocean, and will not have a very long term impact on the mississippi. How much salt can you pick up for 10 mil? Oh and hang the guy up to dry who brought them over from China. And how is this chain link fence going to keep the young/small carp from passing through??? Bet a 6 inch carp would make a game out of it.
  19. Woohoo! Was digging around in the barn and found 4 Penn 309LC reels! I really do need to spend more time in that barn!
  20. Stopped by Billy's today. They are selling that building and the land and moving everything over to their marina. Will still be in business. Don't expect to see any moving sales. Dangerous Dave has his spoons there if you want to see them in person. Some pretty crazy color schemes he has going on. No prices up but the sales guy said they would probably be the same price as he has on the internet. Not too crazy about some of the tape jobs....
  21. Wow. Where were the Colts tonight? I'm not a huge fan of either team but it was like the colts had their minds somewhere else. Gotta give it to the Saints. They were definitely on top of their game. Not too big on that onside kick though. Kind of a cheap shot. One thing when it's at the end of the game out of desperation but at the beginning of the second half when you're only 4 down? Had a few women at the gathering that don't even follow football that said the same. Should make it a rule or something.... But all in all it was a pretty good game! Hats off to the Saints! They've worked hard for it the past few years!
  22. That cabelas depthmaster rig looks nice! Not expensive either! I know when I'm running bottom with my riggers that a lot of times my bottom spoon will drag and the hooks will be fouled up with mussels. Do you run into that a lot dragging copper? 3 : How long of a leader? (10lb test ok?)
  23. SplitShot, Dragging bottom.... Say you are in 80 fow.... Technically I guess you would only need about 400' out. Is this what you do? What would happen if you ran 500' out... This doesn't tear up your copper line on the mussels and stones and stuff?
