  1. WOW! Thats what im shooting. I guess i need to be selective about my shots.

That is for sure!   I have seven.  That is what I am taking hunting and I swear i am not buying any more for those jacked up prices!

  2. Was getting low on Remington copper solid sabots so went to Gander Mt figuring on picking up a couple boxes.

They did not have the 2 and 3/4s but had the 3".  They were like 24 bucks a box. Went to have someone run

a price check because thought they had made a mistake.  I could have sworn the last batch I got( I do admit it

was more than few years back) were no more than 10 bucks for a box of five.  I got to find some thing cheaper.

What do people like that shoots great out of rifled barrel and is reasonably priced?

    Thanks

    Frank

  3. Absolutely deer can jump a string at that bow speed (i.e. drop to the ground)......take a peek at this

    http://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2010/7/14/the-science-of-string-jumping/

The author in that article started out talking about deer jumping the string at 260 fps and then moved it up to 300.

He stated drop of 14.8 inches at 260 fps and then 8.8 at 300 fps.  Do the math what would it be at 350 fps?

If you aim dead on for heart at 30 yard and no jump, you have heart shot. If  there is a drop you have lungs.

He also states he will take the fast arrow over the quiet bow anytime.  Since  OP  asked about silencers

click on the link there are some http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=crossbow+silencer

  4. Yea, staying with fixed both bow and x bow.  Pam from Brewer`s sporting in Ovid recommended Thunderhead, and I`m very happy with them.  If anybody has any ideas on how to quiet the x bow, I`d love to hear them.  As loud as a 22, I`d say.

Don't worry about quieting it.  Worry about your shot placement.  I shot a buck and a doe with rage hypodermics and by the time

they heard the shot, the bolt had already passed through them.  Both dropped within sight. One from a heart shot and the other

lung shot. Absolutely no tracking required.  They cant jump string at  350 fps at 20-30 yds.

  5. Hey guys sorry been away for 10 days in the Midwest, but I got this big guy in 9h Wyoming county on October 25th in the morning. He was with a doe and grunting. He dressed out at 220 lbs!!! Also after I found him due a less than marginal shot I grabbed my son and did a tracking session and let him find him! Here are some pics of the day!

Also the processor said he had over two inches of fat surrounding his whole body

    That's a beauty!  Man O Man.... Congratulations.

  6. After seeing the pic of the monster in front of my stand yesterday, I hopped back in there this morning. My son had action as soon as he climbed up, with a big buck (maybe the guy from the camera) chasing little bucks out of the brush behind him. He said he could hear him grunting and snort/wheezing. As the sun started to come up I did a series of trailing grunts and immediately had one crashing around in front of me. He came out about 70 yds away and headed straight at me with the hair on his back standing straight up and head low. I knew by his body he was mature so I started to draw. He caught me at half draw and looked at me through the branches. After 20 seconds or so, he turned broadside and started heading out in front of me. Once he turned his head I came to full draw and settled the pin on him and there was one branch in the way. Had to get on my toes and that gave me just enough room. THWACK!!! He took off back to where he came and stopped at the edge of the woods. He did a little stumble, fell over and died right there, 40 yds from impact. The Muzzy took off the top of his heart. And jellied both his lungs. A nice wide 10 point with split brow tines. He dressed at 219 lbs.attachicon.gifImageUploadedByLake Ontario United1447004036.253531.jpgattachicon.gifImageUploadedByLake Ontario United1447004135.499170.jpgattachicon.gifImageUploadedByLake Ontario United1447004167.716177.jpgattachicon.gifImageUploadedByLake Ontario United1447004239.367880.jpgattachicon.gifImageUploadedByLake Ontario United1447004272.420910.jpgattachicon.gifImageUploadedByLake Ontario United1447004325.798637.jpg

Looks like you slammed a king deer!  that body size is the biggest I have ever seen.

    WTG!

  7. When they're biting they're biting, when they not its slow. We still managed three nice eyes ourselves in 85 fow straight out of Dunkirk on Monday night. A 19# slob laker too on 10color with a harness. attachicon.gifImageUploadedByLake Ontario United1439998174.841386.jpgattachicon.gifImageUploadedByLake Ontario United1439998192.878213.jpg

That laker must have put up a heckuva fight.  I had one maybe half that size on a spinning rod out there and it took forever for my daughter to bring in.

She kept reeling and it wasnt coming so the line got twisted all to heck to boot
