The smile on the boys faces tell it all . Keep them fishing for as long as you can. I am sure the smile on or faces was even better. Trips like that are the most memorable . Tight Lines Len -
[/b NEW JERSEY YOUTH DAY SPECIAL DEER HUNT By Leonard A.Cagno It was saturday Nov. 22nd , 2008 and time for my grandson's Eric's second deer hunt, not getting a shot On his first hunt. Twelve years of age now he was eagerly awaiting this day for some time now,not to say that I was not. Five A.M. came early that day,and even grandma got up to make us a great breakfast it was unusually cold for this time of year at grandpa's farm in Wantage, N.J.being only 16 degrees , so we put on all the cloths we owned ,if we were to survive in our two man tree stand for any length of time. Back packs and fanny packs filled up with thermos of hot coffee and hot chocolate we headed up the hill to our tree stand, Located at the edge of the woods, some 350 yards from our farm house and over looking a small two acre field, surounded by stone wall hedge rows and more woods on the far side . I had planted a clover food plot here about three years ago. Day light broke about six A.M. with clear skys and no wind, lighting up the white birches scatered in front of our stand. What a beautiful day . I thanked god for that, and allowing me to be here with one of my five grandsons, and hopefully being able to do the same with my other four grandsons when they are ready, some day. Must of been about 7][/url]

We caught that Mako in the Chicken Canyon, 52 miles off shore , out of Manasquan Inlet , in 240' of water. It took all 6 crew members to land it , one guy on the rod. 80 Penn international reel ,130 lb. briaded line , Diawa 80 lb. rod , 15 ' of 600 lb. stainles steel cable leader , two 12/0 hooks , and a 12 lb. Blue fish for bait . It took an hour and 15 min . to land it . Never was able to get it in the boat , just tied it to transom as far up as we could get it out of the water and headed for the scales. What a day that was . It now hangs on the wall in my Trophy Room . Made lots of steaks out of it . Tight Lines Len

We fished last Thurs. and had a good day , we took a rest on Fri. and fished Sat. also had a good day in the afternoon. I recieved a report that on Fri. they turned on at Noon time. Sat. turned on at 1;30 PM. on the outgoing tide . I am trying to find out which is the best time to fish . Is it with the tides 2 hours before high and 2 hours after , or at Dawn and Dusk . Seems to me we had better luck on the outgoing tide . All comments are welcome , shed some light if you can . Tight Lines Len
