  1. I have and idea. Save the down rigger money for the fish Hawk X4D. That will give you true depth of the lure. Run the probe on the rigger with the bad counter. That would cover everything and I bet you would be glad you did! I personally love canon riggers and wouldn’t spend the money on the big Johns
  2. Good luck! I may be out fishing south of deans cove on Sunday. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. There is no denying it will increase you catch rates! I’ll go out on a limb and say it probably doubles the catch rates for most. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Good point! It makes all the difference. Before I got my first fish hawk I would listen to the sounds of the down-riggers and it helped me get my speed right. If they are not whining a little your probably going to slow. The X4 is expensive but well worth the money!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Get the speed down a little and run the riggers down about 90 feet. run rubber band cheaters up higher to increase your odds just north of sheldrake has been good. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. I like to run 2.1 to 2.4 that will get you a good mix of fish. Run slower if you want to catch more fish but most of them will be lakers [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. I had the same thing with my honda kicker. Mine has a vacuum controlled assembly that pushes on throttle. I cleaned a the assembly and sprayed some silicon lubricant on the rod going in the the vacuum assembly. Problem solved if you think this could be your issue let me know I can send pics. 9. I hear the temp is messed up. any body have any updates I was going to make the trip tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. Yes I had an 840 and upgrade to the x4. When I hook the x4 back up the spring the display was bad so I just hooked the 840 back up with the x4 probe and have been very happy this year. One set of good batteries should last all year for most and it's more reliable in deeper water. Ask around I bet I am not the only one [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. Do yourself a favor and buy the x4 prob ! It's a much better prob and works perfect with the 840. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. No problem. I fish Cayuga often so we will see you out there someday. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. A few years ago my boat died after a run from Sampson to Watkins. It stalled when I pulled it out of gear and would not restart. I ended up pulled two of the wires off the coil so there was just power. Then the boat ran fine. In my case it turned out to be the shift cable switch. But hey could be a good way to start trouble shooting. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. Great job! I would however suggest you replace the rod holders on the side of the boat with something stronger. If you plan on running dipseys or fishing Lake Ontario sooner of later they will fail. I learned the hard way and the gear I lost would have paid for nice rod holders Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. The king fishing for me was the worst I have seen.! For the last 10 years I have only been skunked twice both times were this year with Saturday being one of them. Not what I would expect for this time of year. I pulled the boat out and went back to Cayuga. I hope something changes next year but I went out looking for some two year olds and nothing. That does not make me feel good about the future .
