Those grays are beautiful! I want to shoot one for the pelt.
Me too! I have still never got one. I was jealous when we walked up to them and saw they were greys lol. Those 2 make 3 that I have called in for friends though. They are so far a few between around here

2023 had a lot of great outdoor memories. I really made it a point and was intentional this season to take full advantage of having the boat. I got a lot of friends and family out on the lake to catch fish. It was another year filled with lots of fish and game. The kids enjoyed catching panfish, largemouths this summer, and salmon and trout out on the lake. My middle child also accompanied me on her first deer hunt, which ended in the harvest of a nice mature doe! I also brought my youngest on his first track job….very awesome experience. I was also able to assist a few anglers in putting them on the first kings and others on their first predators.
Some of the highlights include:
-17 foxes and 7 coyotes taken
-My finished Jake fan mount I did from my turkey last season
-Family trip to Florida
-Tagging out on two toms this season. First time ever for me
-Fathers day out for kings with my son
-A tank of a largemouth kayak with my wife for our anniversary lol
-A 49 fish lake trout jigging day. Lost and missed just as many.
-My dads 60th birthday trip to Cayuga with my brothers
-5 Atlantics
-Spring king hitting the chinook diver out 20ft
-All deer tags filled
-Awesome times with my kids in the woods and on the water
-Annual fall musky trip
-Pier casting for kings
Enjoy the pictures!

Bought .204 ammo today for the upcoming coyote season.
In other states the only question you are asked is if you want a bag. DisgustingWhere did you find the .204 ammo Bill?

Got my son out on the track with me this morning. He has been all about anything hunting or fishing ever since he could talk lol. He was in his glory this morning. It was the perfect track to take him on, as the deer only ran 30 yards into the thick stuff and I watched her fall over. He followed the blood all the way to her. As I was getting ready to dress the deer, I looked over at him and he was behind the deer petting its back saying, “This is awesome……This is awesome”. We got to take a moment to thank God for the opportunity, and for the meat that we have been blessed with. In my time in the outdoors, this morning was right up there with the best of them! I’m just very blessed. Just a very cool few moments this morning with my little guy. He was also very persistent on helping drag the deer back to the truck…..so the drag took twice as long. I was dying lol. Can I really ask for anything else though? Just awesome

Last Friday I went to see my dad and do a little work for him and right away I knew things weren’t right. He could barely walk and when asked to go to the hospital or urgent care he declined and said take the kids home and go hunting. After a late start I got set up and reached for my phone to text my father and plead once again to go to the hospital. He declined again and ten minutes later I had a few does and a smaller buck come out and make a scrape. As I watched him a doe came out and behind her in the brush I noticed another buck. He came out and proceeded to chase the doe away from me from ninety to one hundred and sixty yards. First shot with the new smokeless muzzleloader I built last year and he dropped. At 4:10 pm I called dad to let him know, he’s always the first call and was very excited. Dad fell on Sunday and laid on the ground for over eight hours before my sister got to him. Later that night we learned his pain and inability to walk was due to tumors on his spine, lungs and liver. I have to believe there was some intervention or a higher power that put that deer in front of me. I put very little time into gun hunting over the years because I love hunting with the bow. This was the first descent buck I have ever shot at. He was the reason I built the new gun. I added dads, my uncles and kids initials to the bolt handle to remind me of the special people in my life and those no longer here. As of now we await dads prognosis. He has had six CAT scans and four MRI’s and my heart breaks as the man who’s taught me everything I know is struggling. I always thought I was the best at everything I did whether it was hunting , fishing, or any of the sports I played growing up. I now realize he was the best, as he gave me the best spots when we went hunting and always was a little slower to grab the pole when we trolled. With so much uncertainty surrounding him right now I know I won with him as my dad.
Great write up and congrats on the buck. I’ll be praying for your dad in these next upcoming days

My recommendation is don’t wear the face paint. You don’t need it to kill deer

Great buck movement all week. I have seen 3 to 5 bucks every morning this week. Nothing worth shooting. I’ve only missed 2 mornings this month. Still waiting on that big boy to come by

Looks like you need to get the doe to drop in a shooting lane next time.
I had a small buck keep stepping on a dead doe several years ago. He didn’t really beat on her. He was more like “wake up, I’m ready!”
I’ve had the same thing happen

If anyone shoots a 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 yo buck this year and doesn’t want the cape, I would be very appreciative to pick it up from you. I’m looking to use it for a shoulder mount taxidermy project I’m working on

Anyone have a pic of the buck that got hit on the parkway today? Heard it was a giant

Spent the last two days with the Mrs in the Adirondacks (Old Forge) seeing the fall foliage and enjoying the nice weather before I start my season in full swing. We always drive arrive and look for deer and get some pictures. This morning we were greeted by this beautiful specimen of an Adirondack buck.
That’s crazy. I went to old forge in august and saw this buck in velvet

How did you handle them with this heat?
I packed them with ice right away and brought them to a friend house, hung them in his garage and him and his son cut them up

Well, the season didn’t go as I had hoped. I came down with bronchitis early in September, which kept me off the pier on some really good mornings unfortunately. The days I did manage to get out were still productive. Seemed to be more fish around this year than the past couple, which disappoints me even more than I wasn’t able to hit it like I usually do. All in all it was a fun month. It’s time to hit the woods, but I may scrape out one more outing and try to get two more to make it an even 30. I hope you all have been having a great season. Here are a few of mine👌🏼.
