  1. Just an update from this weekends trips, on canadice I was running 8 colors with a 2oz snap weight just up from where the lead starts and I was pickin up lakers like crazy. All of em on a thinfin at around 2 mph or a bit less in 78 to 86fow. Sure takes a long time to reel in 8 colors lol, can't imagine what its like on a copper/diver rod lol

  2. got out saturday morning, set up by 6 am and had a graph full of fish top to bottom. Started with a dr down 10 off botom, 7 color core w/2 oz snap weight and a flatline w/3 oz snap weight. Stopped fishing after boating 20 lakers because my arm was sore from crankin up the dr. Ended up pulling the LC and flatline because I was too busy with the DR goin off ass soon as I put it down. Fish ranged from 16 to 30'' all lakers. STILL have yet too hook into any other type of trout but I'm gonna giver tonight or tomorow and see if I can't hook into one.

Most of em were in the 25'' range, chunky healthy looking fish. All but 2 <20'' went back down safely to be caught another day

  3. Hey Pete, yeah it's me. I got hit with two chronic health conditions which led to serious physical issues with nerves and joints. You name it I injured it- back, knees, achilles tendons, shoulders, wrist etc. Spent the last three years battling back.

Anyway, not being able to adjust the drag with a fish on is unacceptable for an $80 reel. It's the first baitcaster I've owned so I'm hoping to get a sense of what's normal before I go back to BPS. Has anyone else had this problem? Have a great holiday everyone!

Salmon and big trout might be a bit much for a lo profile baitcaster designed for bass casting, my only thought

  4. I started trolling this year and one of the purchases I made was one of the okuma pre set up leadcore rigs. Full ten colors of 17lb core 50lb pp backing and about a 30ft seaguar fluoro leader 15#. I have caught numerous fish on my downrigger at various depths but still have yet to hook into a fish on my leacore rig. I've been running anywhere from 5 to ten colors and even using snap weights to increase depth with less line out and still not had a single fish. I know I'm getting close enough to the bottom for lakers because I often pull up debris while retreiving my line. I'm moving anywhere from 1.5-2.3 mph and using mainly spoons(nk, stinger, sutton) as well some thinfins, husky jerks, raps, and acme spinners with zero luck. My only ideas are maybe shorten the leader to around 15'? run the clicker/drag a bit tighter maybe? The rods an 8'6'' okuma "downrigger" series medium action rod btw.

You guys have been great with answering all my questions so far so any help is greatly appreciated!

  5. Only 3 females in the bunch. A blast to catch on my old 3 weight fenwick streamer flyrod with a 500 sienna electrical taped to the handle

  7. Came right out and banged 2 lakers in the first 45 minutes. One off Spin doc hammertime and hammertime DW fly and the other off a stinger scorpion bumblee both off riggers. Then the wind picked up and it shut right down. Had what appeared to be a decent LL that took my flatline with a 4 inch rap on it but as soon as it took there were 2 headshakes and gone :( Lakers were your average 3 to 4 pounders. Nothing impressive today. Probably done for the week down there. Going to whack Lake O this weekend in the big boat for kings

Can you provide some more detail please? Depth? Area of the lake? Time of day?

    Tyvm!!

the lake is tiny it only takes about ten minutes to find em, getting em to bite is another story

  8. Good eats!! Did not see a rocky or pumpkinseed in the mix, but that was a good pile; they may not be visible...( rockies are tasty, to). Fish fry :yes:

Oh there's a few sunnies strategically placed, I always do a few to see if I can find them when I'm eatin em. After cleanin that many for 4 days straight I'm ready for some trout action today
