  1. You know Les, I kinda thought that was you driving by us, when I saw the Penn Yan.  I was gonna wave but ...oh well next time.  Not that I am happy that you did so poorly but at least I don't feel like a clueless moron.  I am just hoping it was the sun the messed things up.  I would be interested to know how all the other guys did.  It didn't seem like they were hauling them in left and right either.    Probably gonna pound out some tomorrow or Thurs in Lake O

  2. Humminbird help

So I buy this boat a couple of years ago with great electronics on it .  998 and 958 Humminbird, with a Minnkota Terrova and Ipilot.  I have most of it down as far as how to use everything after trial and error over the past couple of years.  But I know I don't have it all down.  I was wondering if there is anyone in the Rochester area that either works on Humminbirds or has a vast working knowledge that I could hook up and pick their brain and to make sure I doing things right.  Thanks in advance

  3. Canandaigua report

Hit it yesterday with the 12 to 15 other boats out there.  Struuugglled to say the least.  Fished mostly the 20' range.  Met a guy and his kid in a small blue green row boat, can't remember his LOU name Id like to find out how he made out.  I was in the red Lund.  Send me PM.

  4. January troll on the "O"

So we hit the O out of Bear Creek yesterday and trolled the 8' to 10' range and absolutely crushed the browns.  A few cookie cutters but mainly 6lb and better with a nice 12.5lb.  However, equipment failure after equipment failure kept the excitement down.  We lost a monster fish that fought like a king.  It surfaced right after it hit but then screamed taking about 100 feet of line before turning towards the boat then making a ninety and pulling another bunch of line and broke off.  I was sick.  Never saw it but figure it was a big steelie or who knows maybe a king.  Ive never trolled this time of year so I don't know other than trout what is lurking.  Anyway a mix bag of sticks did the trick, clown color being the best that brought all the big ones.  The fog set in and made it a pain in the ... , especially when there was one guy out there not running his lights.  Unbelievable.  Then when he was all done headed to the launch on plane.  Visibility was about 100' at best. So all in all in a great time.  Non stop action.   Can't wait till March.

  5. My son and I hit the lake and had lines in by 1:30pm.  Marked a lot in the 90' range.  Trolled from there out to 130 and bang hit a 30lb female 80 over 130.  Absolute craziness on the boat when the auto pilot quit.  She screamed out then side ways into the dipsey before my kid could get it up. Then ran towards the boat dragging the dipsey under the boat and around the lower unit.  I wish I had a go-pro.  She broke off right at the boat but thanks to my son and his 19 year old reflexes and a perfect job of netting it as it started to make a dive dragging the FF we got her on, we got her in the boat. Took an hour of un-F...ing things, before we were back trolling.  We only had one other hit and that was on a plain spoon, 50' over 100'.  We quit at 7:45pm 1 for 1.
