  1. Went out yesterday in the pouring rain.  Trolled the stain line for a while with absolutely nothing.  Went out deep and picked up a nice Laker on a cowbell.  My buddy had to go home early so I dropped him off and went back out.  The day turned beautiful.  Started back in the skinny stuff still nothing so went out deep.  Marked a few in 70.  Had a hit and drop at 80' .  Then at 100' started marking a lot.  Mostly around 50 over 100.  A lot of birds out there as well.  Ended with a really nice Laker in 136'.  Most of the bait was around 50-60 over the 110-130 range.

  2. Hey so for any of you out there that own a Lund and are looking to canvas for it and don't want to pay the super high price that the dealer will charge you, you can order directly from the company that makes Lund's canvas.  The name is Dufort industries. 1 800 461-7776.  I had been looking for a set of side curtains for my Rebel XL and was quoted by the dealership, over $300 for the pair.  Dufort gets $225.  A full trailerable canvas is only $670.  Pretty good prices.

  3. I was out there Tuesday as well and stayed out of the forbidden zone.  My buddy and I did very well for a small boat and didn't have to worry about getting stopped by Border Patrol/USCG.  I know and work along side of the guys from both those agencies and they are doing their jobs.  So don't complain that they don't have anything better to do.  It is their jobs to do that just keep people out.  So here is a suggestion, obey the law.  If you do get stopped and just warned, don't turn around and go right back in.  You're gonna get a ticket or they may really put the screws to you and seize your stuff, which they can do if they really want to screw with you.  So why push it.  They only people they get upset with are the ones that anchor or troll in tight.  Like many of you have said, this isn't the old days and it will never be again unfortunately.

  4. Okay I am fairly new to the whole big lake trolling.  I started off with an old 1973 StarCraft aluminum with two manual riggers and one older graph depth finder.  I felt I did okay on most days. Some better than others.  Now I own a 2013 Lund with all the bells and whistles, including electric downriggers and high end depth finders etc.  I run everything the same as had before but my productivity has gone way down.  I am talking I am running the same speed and spread and course as my buddy next to me but he hooks up three times more than me.  So my buddy and I start doing some research and come up with this whole bonding your electronics and/or installing a black box to remedy the voltage thing and actually start attracting fish.  I am looking for a little advice from you guys.  Also do all the electronics get bonded with this black box or should I just install a heavy copper bonding wire?  HELP  Thanks in advance.

  5. That was my son and I yesterday.  Was out again today.  Docks still aren't in. Water is wicked cold.  South wind pushed the stain everywhere and a lot of ice floating around.  Be careful.

  6. Been twice to Sandy in the last two days.  Went 2 for 4 yesterday in 5 hours 1-6. Brown and small King.  Went 2 for 2 today in 7 hours.  2 browns. Everything came in 10 feet.  Various colors.  Water temp is 37 most spots.  38 in front of outlet and 40 near the water plant.  Still early.
