  1. I just ordered a pair of triple trees from Mad docks. I also had them make 2 plates to bolt to the boat so I can easily remove the trees from the plates when not in use. That way I'm not climbing under the gunnel every time I want to take them off. (similar to the big jon planer mast mounting system I already have)  They cost about $190 for the pair shipping included. That's pretty hard to beat. I don't expect them to be fancy but they should be functional.

  2. HELL YEAH! I had Tyler Lydon in K-6th grade and he was a ball boy for me when I was coaching in his hometown.  He is a great kid and a relentless competitor. I couldn't be happier for him!!!

  3. 2lb,

Do you see a direct difference between spraying or injecting chemicals such as nitrogen versus planting a cover crop such as rye to "naturally" introduce more nitrogen into the soil?  Wouldn't this reduce the likelihood of it reaching the lake in  a "toxic" level? Reason I ask is I grew up on a small farm and am surrounded by a huge farm that plants miles of rye for cover/nitrogen.

  4. Some may think it isn't necessary to have the safeguards surrounding Gina, Nine Mile etc... But, try looking at it this way. Do you want to fish in Chernobyl? Hell no.  Like mentioned above in regards to Brussels yesterday, if someone detonates a bomb inside one of these plants what do you think is going to happen to OUR beloved Lake Ontario after a nuke plant meltdown?? It would be game over. Keep the safe guards in place and obey them. Is it really worth the risk to catch a few more fish? I would hope we would say no it isn't.

  5. Kings have loved those black and purple NK28's since the 80's and still do today.

X2 on that in mag for me. The bigger browns will go for em too.

Where have you guys had the best luck running them in your spread?

I remember running them with my dad in the 80's but haven't run them in along time.

  6. There have been boats getting out for the last week or so on the north end.  The channel was open this morning when I went by.  The only thing that could jack it up is if the south wind blew ice into it today??  I can't imagine it would last long even if it did with the temps this week. I have no idea what the south end of the lake looks like.

  7. I would also be interested in how some people run this. What is your favorite size weight and how do choose the correct speed if running a spoon or something that doesn't produce the usual action on the rod tip?

  8. Not CPswings but #4 Vibrex spinners. Cut off hook add a 12" peice of 12# fluro with a #8 SPRO swivel and a Slow Death.

    Mike,

Have you ever tried a small spoon behind that rig instead of a slow death?

  9. I too tie up spare leaders and wrap them on a noodle, I also run a double dropshot very similar to that rig. My main difference is I will run the leader through the eye of the hook and then tie in the loop so I don't have to cut the leader at all.  I also run the loops much smaller and closer to the main leader because I almost always am fishing rubber and feel that if I tie in loops that are too large that my hook up percentage goes way down due to the fact that there is a some slack line in the loop and the fish rarely "hang on" to the rubber like they do a minnow or other live bait.  I will tie up some rigs with longer loops to try on tough days and see if that makes a difference.  So you do run the octopus hooks with rubber? Would you share which fly patterns are productive?
