  1. For the limited use of the recreational angler on a budget, I think the Magda's are a good option. I have 45's on 2 wire Dipsy rigs and they work great. If I was a charter captain and pounding on them everyday I can see that they could become an issue, but for limited outings a year IMHO you should be good to go.

  2. I was under the impression that if I wanted to run the coppers off the boards it was a bad idea to hook the releases to the copper itself? As they would wear on the copper and cause it to break. I agree and understand the spray painting distances for running it down the chute, but didn't think it was a good idea do run it off the board without attaching the board to the backing.

  3. You're right Rob, I was talking about the coated mono. So you think it is tough enough for leadcore and up to say a 450 copper? I really don't have much interest in running coppers much longer than that. Also, does anyone ever split a copper? For example, putting 10-20 ft of mono at the 300 mark of a 450 copper to in effect get 2 rigs out of one rod. Or is that basically tackle suicide?? I am on a limited budget (like everyone else ;( ) so the more i can do with less the better.

  4. I will try to make it to one, but with young twins you never know! Could someone ask if there is something that can be done about the ridiculously low winter water levels in our beloved fingerlakes? Many of the launches are unuseable even if they are ice free. Even extending the concrete ramp pads would be one step that could help if the lake levels cannot be raised.

    Thanks,

  5. Just wondering what type/brand line anyone has had luck with? I really don't like the flea flicker because it twists so bad, especially with F/F. I fish the fingers as well as Ontario and Erie. Pulling in a smaller fish from the fingers on 20-30# line isn't very sporting IMHO, but thanks to the darn fleas it seems to have become a necessity. I am just looking for a way to add more stealth to the pattern once the fleas show up.:beer::beer:

    Thanks,

  6. I've got a buddy who is thinking about buying a boat. Looking for something to troll with in the 20-24 ft range. Hardtop/cuddy. Anyone know of anything available or websites he can cruise through to look at whats around?

    Thanks,

  7. I ended up getting the Dan Keating Books and DVD's for xmas presents! My wife heard me talking about them for someone else and low and behold I found them under the tree!! The books are great reads with tons of info. The DVD's are good but don't go into anywhere near the detail the books do. I read the books first and then watched the DVD's, that helped me vsiualize what I was reading. If you can swing it I would definitely recommend the combo, but if you are only going to get one or the other I would definitely choose the books.
