I have caught many Landlocked salmon on the finger lakes that have the green back as well.

How big are your swivels? Are they so large that they could be hurting the action of your spoons? especially the lightweight ones?  Small  quality swivels!  Maybe a little lighter leader??  As far as colors we had good luck on standard stingers in alewife, and chicken wing, and just about anything firetiger in the mud!

Besides obvious weather problems ( waves, storms, etc) What are your favorite weather conditions to fish? What are your least favorite conditions to fish?  If you could draw up your perfect conditions to catch fish on Lady O what would they be?

We caught a dozen last year out of sodus on feb. 23rd. water was 36-39. one was 13.5 lbs.

The only thing I can add is that the wire does not stretch at all so it adds action to the dipsy and obviously your bait presentation as your boat travels through the water. I know braid doesn't stretch that much either but the wire is a presentation that can't be replicated with any other type of line. There really isn't anything comparable to holding onto a 30# king ripping on a wire dipsy!

I don't know what size reels you have, but size 30 Okumas seem to fit 1000' of wire just right.

It's just a guess, but I don't think that walleye ever met Jenny Craig.

The hook should ride at the end of the skirt on the fly. You can adjust this by the number/size of beads you use under the fly.

Only thing I would add is put a full 1000' of wire on each dipsy set up.  That way you don't have to worry about backing connections/failures, plus you have plenty of line.  The Okuma 30's you have are the perfect size. I have 2 and plan on getting 2 more.  And the fleas can't grab the wire either

I have had very good luck with the Dirty White Boy.  They don't glow, but if you need to catch a laker, its hard to beat behind in line flashers.

I have never run a thumper rig and was planning on trying it this season. In trying to climb the learning curve I had a question.  Can anyone share any kind of dive curve or depth/feet of line out ratio?  For example with a 1 lb. weight I can expect to run at what depth with how many feet of wire out? Obviously speed, currents, etc... apply.  I was just looking for a starting point.  Any help is always appreciated!
