  1. I agree with you and to expand on that, People are going to have to get used to this "new normal" they keep throwing out on how we are going to get back to social integration. Right now there is and has been a nervous twitch with people from other states traveling across state lines. I was supposed to go see my first grandchild be born April 8th in NC. I stayed at home in NY fully following the guidelines and it kills me to this moment that I have not and probably will not see her (my first grandchild) for at least a month from now..And photos dont cut it...It actually makes it worse...I dont think a NY plate would have been welcomed in NC last week...Heck I may have even have been turned around if this did get worse back then..

Now that this seems to be working its way thru we are all going to have to start over again and part of that will be shaking the state line fears away.

What’s the odds that if I park my truck in the little parking lot outside those barricades and carry my kayak down to the launch I’d be violating whatever order is in place here? Anyone have insight on that? I’d like to kayak if I can’t boat.

I would like to think you would be fine.  It really depends on the county and what their order is. My county is stay at home only go out on certain days depending on your birth year and every other Sunday. But the fact that what your doing is solitary which is what states are encouraging should suffice....Its not like you have 5 guys in a boat that has "Charter Captain of the year" plastered all over his boat and they are all just friends and family having a relaxing day on the water type thing lol..Lol I mean you can apply the "Friends and Family plan" to Verizon and the other companies but it wont really fly with the DEC and Coast Guard lol...not right now lol

  3. Well the good news is that as far as New York State goes the curve does seem to be flattening. Which makes sense. And Cuomo is now starting to talk about re opening the state. I think its a good idea for the states in the region to work together too. That being said obviously the stay at home order and other restrictions did help. I dont think anyone can dispute that part. But it will still take time. First thing is basic transportation svc and kids need to go to school then the workforce can hopefully come back.

  4. Well it is a serious subject with a lot of variables and unknown so emotions and thoughts will escalate on both sides. The bottom line is the less people adhere to this stay at home order (which is the whole country btw) the more likely this virus will linger around. Our words on this forum do not spread the virus but our physical actions in our daily lives do. Time will tell

  5. Heres a novel thought (No pun intended) We have many medical workers, town and highway workers, restaurant workers, convenience store workers, grocery store workers, home depot workers and many others who are getting sick simply because people are allowed to go to these places yet they have to work in these conditions...Yet alone worry about the impact this has on their families.....

Is it too much to ask fisherman to stay off their boats and actually stay home and help reduce the spread of this thing.....OR is your life that self centered that catching a brown trout in lake ontario the most important thing in your life....

Trust me boys....these things will be here for a very long time.....

Now we are doctors? When the restaurant workers start wearing masks when making my take out dinner and Home Depot has less than FUUL parking lot, I’ll think about listening to you....

Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Your welcome to come into my restaurant and see our cooks wearing masks and gloves and wiping down the pickup area every time a customer approaches the pickup area. we are spacing customers out 6 feet apart with gaf tape(I get that from my music stage work business) and we are constantly wiping down the doors to keep everyone safe.....My point is we are trying our best to follow the rules just like fisherman should follow the rules being issued as well. This is for eveyones benefit not the individual. Some people need to seriously look beyond themselves....

  7. I think we will see more launches close this week if there are any left by tonight. It makes sense it really does.  Its a tough challenge trying to keep fisherman out of the water.  But they have to do it. Any launch open any charter boat running any overcrowded boats dont help the situation. We just need to lay low for awhile is all. Happy Easter...Its a good day for a bicycle ride lol

  8. Yea Its not a city disease as much as it is a social gathering disease. We have a very popular tiny little italian meet market in our area. They are known for their meatball mix. That meatball mix probably makes up 60% of their business its that popular. Anyways my neighbor who lives down the street went there march 16th. A week later it was reported that an employee there had tested positive for COVID19. The county gave the guidelines that anyone who visited that store within the 16th and 17th should self quarantine. Not two days later after the media reported the employee tested positive both my neighbors got extremely sick and were diagnosed with the disease.....One was on the ventilator but now both are home on quarantine recovering....

My point is this. That meat market is very small. Mom and pop and one or two employees. Sort of like.......All these businesses in these little lake shoreline towns....It can and does spread very easily....

  9. Ultimately it boils down to the individual. Some will comply others will not. But there is a valid threat. As of three days ago Cayuga County was sitting on 15 cases, three weeks prior it was 3 cases. That made sense because if you take the city of Auburn out there really is nothing but a large swamp and a bunch of lakeside communities and a few hamlets in between. In the past two weeks I have seen an influx of people coming into the area from areas 40 miles west of New Rochelle as the crow flies, Pennsylvania, CT, MA to name a few. This is normal to me this time of year. Many needed to get to their boats to get them ready for dump in. .....What does that translate to? As of today they have 33 cases......The more people travel not only into these areas but even locals who travel within, cases will spike apparently

  10. Well the media is having a field day with this however a lot of them are working from home so thats good lol...I mean cuomos brother got it. Hes been in his basement quarantined looking all beatup and im sure its true....sucks to be him...Besides the real issue should be will Donald J. Trump pardon Joe exotic! lol...That is the question lol

  11. Keep in mind that the virus is non discriminate to the politicians nor anyone else for that matter. Speaking of grocery stores.  Has anyone been in one lately? Its a completely different atmosphere and honestly it kinda skeeves me out.....Its not the same ..And I ask myself is this all media hype, is it valid. I mean I know some neighbors who have the virus. That doesnt scare me but at the same time when im at the store around people, I get weird lol....Like I want to get in and out real quick lol.

The problem is they cannot shut them down.....But it probably would not be a bad idea

  12. Well that may be true but it is the travel to and from the launch which is the true risk. I mean even if one stops at the store along the way or a bathroom or even to get gas could be an issue. And if one uses the launch and then another and another that could and does create groups of people larger than ten which is another guideline...Ultimately the actions of one could effect another...Im just gonna take my kayak down the Sterling Creek Saturday...

  13. Lol I guess it could be lol.....But naaa how could people not see this coming.  I mean as much as people may or may not practice social distancing and lets be honest everyone wants to move on as normal. Social Distancing is an easier said than done scenario and honestly these closings should not come as a surprise to anyone. Until this virus does get under control we should expect things in our culture that encourage social contact to be closed down.... But hey lol today is a great day to go brown trout fishing on lake ontario....we almost have two inches of snow on the ground lol

  14. They finally did. They closed green lakes this afternoon. It makes sense that Onondaga County has the most cases in the area. Syracuse is the biggest city in Central New York. Cayuga county only had 4 cases for the longest time and now cases have more than doubled in that county simply because people are starting to come back into the area...Plus they have done minimal testing in this county however 4% which is a lot for the size of the testing have been confirmed positive.

Oswego county is getting worse and was graded a D- in social distancing by a local survey based on cell phone use. Thats why the mayor has in effect shut down the city of Oswego. They know cases will spike if they didnt take this action. Going back to the basics of this thread one can see why people should stay away from the side ramp at Wrights landing.....your not helping the situation basically.

I think that if everyone tries a little harder for the next two weeks practicing social distancing and actually staying at home we will really flatten the curve which we need to do.

  15. Actually in Onondaga County which neighbors Oswego and Cayuga counties, they closed all public and private golf courses because too many people were going over the past two weeks, they didnt keep social distancing and Sunday they had 7 cases directly related to the golf courses.....So....No more golfing in Onondaga County. This stuff spreads like wildfire.....

  16. Yes Oswego is on lockdown basically. Wrights is closed until July 13. The Mayor just put a serious Stay at home no travel ban in the city only. The police will be enforcing this. One might find in the very near future police sitting at the side dock at wrights. They really dont want anyone to use it right now. Keep in mind with this executive order issued by the mayor the police can and will ask you to move on. My suggestion. Fish somewhere else if you must but you wont get away with it very long in the city of Oswego......Consider this folks.....If the local residence of Oswego and this whole area for that matter have to stay at home........Anyone from outside the region should stay out.....Its best for everyone

  17. Lol I bet the browns are sitting in 6 fow laughing sayin "We got this boys, they fightin themseles up  there" lol SWIM ON LOL....

Look this is a tough time for everyone. I just canceled my trip to my sons in NC. I am missing the birth of my first grandchild which is apparently this coming Thursday they say...There is no travel restrictions for me to go there. Im out of work so I have the time. This old hippy could make it ten hours in my vw bus and piss in my porta potty.  And eat my own food along the way. I can justify it all...But as someone famous said "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". I dont even have a smartphone for a video skype thing...Maybe I will see my granddaughter in July.... But I am comfortable with my decision. I guess everyone has to ask themselves what is right and what is wrong.....

Right, he lives in Pulaski and I live in Mexico.

Honestly there are people in the medical field that would say your both risking this because you dont live together. If you did live together that actually would suffice....My mom is 94 I live 2 miles from her but have not seen her in weeks. Its just the way it is....   regardless be careful  its a tough time right now...
