  1. Thanks for the info. I ordered a few of the matched pairs of stinky bait holders and flashers from Big weenie. Looking forward to trying them out of Olcott when I make it up there in a week.
  2. I've never tried meat rigs before but may this year. What bait holder do most people use with their herring? I see Pro-Troll has several models. Anybody recommend any specific model? Thanks.
  3. I used regular dipsys (001 - 4 1/8") and weighted mag dipsys (003 - 4 7/8") and have the depth charts laminated in my boat which I consult frequently. A friend gave me some regular dipsys with the aftermarket larger ring on them which basically converted them from 4 1/8 inch to 4 7/8 inch but without the weight. He glued them on bc he said that the rings have a tendency to slip off. Of course, I could change to regular rings, but would like them to function closer to mag dipsys. As they are, I'm guessing that they'll run to depths somewhere between the reg dipsy and weighted mag dipsy. The mag dipsy weighs 8.8 oz vs 5.8 oz for the reg dipsy with larger ring. If I add 3 oz of sinkers to the 001 w larger ring, I'm thinking that this should run at same depth as mag dipsy? Anyone tried this before? Thanks.
  4. Thanks! Thats what I thought, but wanted to make sure. I'm going to order a few of the 8" models and try them this spring.
  5. Only my second year salmon fishing out of olcott. I use spin doctors but I'm not sure what you mean by echip. I looked at their website and I'm guessing you're referring to a flasher but which model do you use? Thanks.
  6. Great post! I can't make it up until Memorial day weekend, and reading posts like this make the wait even harder! I also concur with tlombardozzo. I also googled for fin-lander but came up empty. Anybody know if they're still made or where to find them?
