Try a tennis/racket ball you can slip on the end? Not sure how good it would work though

Still getting the hang of using a subtroll. 48 down 60 I understand. When you say you were picking them up half way down the column does that mean you had your

riggers down 30? Or were you running the balls 60, and picking up fish on a cheated spoon?

Jim- we were in 100 fow. Took most of our shots between 40-60 ft Down.

Started off around 730 am at 80fow. Had temp 48 down 60' and was happy happy happy. Worked from 100-130 for most of the day picking up kings along the way half way down the column on moonshine mag spoons and blue dolphin spin/flies. 24# was the big boy of the day.

Went out with the old man who wanted a few shots at browns so we dipped into the temp break and fished 60-80 fow for the rest of the day and took 4 more shots- 3 of which we missed on two real big browns.

With the south wind the temp disappeared on us midway through the day as it went from 48* 60' down in the am to 63* 60' down at noon. Crazy how that happens!

Overall a 5-8 day from 730ish- 12.

Can you do any better on the Traxtech rails and holders? That's retail prices.

Give me a price for both rails and all three rod holders.

When the temp is up it is a good producer. You're looking at a depth of around 50 ft with a 10 color so if temp is down in the 90-100 ft range you have a small chance of doing anything on it- unless you find a fish or two out of temp (ie steelhead)

Same here- we didn't get into fish until we hit 350 yesterday- lost two and did a 28# down 110 ft.

Her first salmon- it will be hard to top that one!

That blood run flea line is the sh*t! Put on 100' leaders last week and had a few fleas at my knots only- a week earlier I gave up after two hours as they attacked my 30# mono to the point where I had to pull a rod every 10 minutes to clean it.

I will never run braid on my diver rods- I have two riggers with braid on them and they are the biggest pain in the ass when fleas are in. The Dacron acts like a fly strip to the fleas. I get pissed when I get a little chunk on my downrigger rods I couldn't imagine dealing with them 200' down a braided diver line.

Play with it- one day you can take them close to the ball- others you get them 30-40 feet off.

Start off every day with a variety of lures and lengths and work from there. If you notice your rigger with a short lead is taking fish, shorten them up and vice versa.

Ill try to get out there to you guys' playground and see what I can pull out of the water.

When I bought it the kit only came w about 200' as it was used. I don't mind buying a new cable but I literally put the thing on not even three weeks ago lol

Before I start just another big thanks to everyone who participated and who helped put on the event. Great job to all the teams!

We got out right at 530 and decided to drop at 60' dead north of the port. We took one shot on a 75 wire (green dot spin) while dropping lines but lost that before we could get a good hook on it.

We had a 7 rod spread out all day with two wire rods w spinnys and flies, a 10 color with a mag spoon, and our 4 big Jon's- three with cheated spoons and one deep guy with meat rig or a spin/fly. By the time we got everything out we were in 110 and marked a few hooks and bait half way down in the column.

We decided to poke out to our waypoints in 150-160 and as soon as we passed we took a monster shot off our 200' wire with a purple e-chip/ blue fly. 23# salmon hit the deck and that set the excitement for the day.

Shorty after we took a small guy on our 10 color with a Dino egg mag knockout spoon. Took a spin back around to the waypoint and took a 20# off of a luhr shoehorn spoon.

After that we took a few smaller guys (10-15) in the 100-150 area but lost our screen by 930. After an awesome suggestion (Thanks again Paul) we turned north and headed for the 27 line. At 310' and 320' we took back to back shots off the wire/rigger with another 23 and a 15. We tossed the smaller guy back as we were sure we would take another major.

That's when the screen died out again. From 320-430 we couldn't find anything. By this time it was 1130 and I was getting anxious. I made the decision to turn back and check out the 300-320 water again.

By noon we were back in the good water with good temp 60' down and bait everywhere. We hung west in that water for another hour with no real luck until we hit a pod of fish where we did 5-6 in a row with an 8# steel being the biggest fish there. We bopped that one and somewhat relaxed as we had our box.

About five minutes after I'm taking a leak in a bucket when the wire directly next to my "holding" hand takes off- mid stream I drop everything and grab the wire. 18# king and a good upgrade. At this point I've half pissed my pants and by dropping the bucket had piss everywhere.

At this point I'm guessing we have around 84 lbs in the box and we should be able to place. I check the time and it's 1pm- time to turn back around east and get ready to start pulling lines.

About five minutes after heading east we take a small shot on the shoehorn again and we hand it off to a buddy who has only been out a few times earlier this season (when all we did out of sandy was lakers). He fights the fish for about 5 minutes nice and easy until the 25# realizes he is hooked- GAME ON! Needless to say this guy got his ass handed to him for the next 15 minutes until we finally slipped the net under him.

At this point speculation has joined is on the boat wondering where everyone else is- we ended up getting to the weigh station after taking a quick swim and totaled out at 88.29# good enough for 4th.

Overall an awesome day! Proud of my guys for hanging tight and not losing any big fish! Lol

Can't cut- I'd lose 60 feet which would leave me with about 125 left on the spool. Eh ill try something lol

Same with me- did 2 majors first thing in the 150 then it went dead. Booked it north out to the 25 line found some bait and took the rest there.

Had a screamer on a wire the other day and a rookie tried taking it out of the holder- long story short the wire rubbed the coating off of my downrigger cable in a spot- now I'm getting some weird readings.

I was thinking about patching it with either heat shrink tube or liquid electrical tape...

Is there a fix or should I just get a new cable?

It was my first shootout- awesome time and a great event! Great to get out on the water with a few buddies and even better to place! Ha if you would have asked me before I went out where I thought I'd be at the end of the day I wouldn't have said 4th!
