Hi guys, 17ft aluminum boat with a 50hp 2 stroke motor. Most of the time i troll by myself or with my buddy. No more than two people on board. How big of a kicker do i need? im only interested in achieving 3mp/h.

6dbd or 6dbi? Your vertical antenna will never give you that much gain. If its dbi, it has no gain. If purchasing a vhf antenna, make sure it is 5/8 wavelength, or multiple if it.

So here goes my plan for fishing tommorow........need motor
Kuba replied to Kuba's topic in This Old Boat
well, it was the cables... i removed the battery, took a wire brush and some elbow grease to the posts on the battery and to the terminals at the end of cables and it works like a charm. Silly me, why didn't i think of that before? Guys, my bows to you all for trying to help. I didn't go fishing as an opportunity came up at work and i took it. Most likely there will be no more days like today this year. Today we had 16+, tommorow we are expecting 2+ and some snow Thanks! Daniel. -

@&!! ... Cant believe it would fail so quickly;( Is the selenoid inside of the starter or outside? [ Post made via iPhone ] -
So i charged the batteries to full and decided to turn over the engine, turned the key for one second -fine, turned it second time and the starter is spinning loose, its a 2008 merc 2 stroke 50hp that has only around 50hrs on it. Removed the cover to flywheel and i can see that starter is not coming up when turning the key- its not engaging. Is there a quick fix for that? Or do i have to get a new starter??? I am new to marine stuff but quite handy with tools. [ Post made via iPhone ]

LoL !!!! Hehe... You guys kick ass Gambler: i had a sailboat so i know how it is with boats. I like my boat because its light easy to transport and fits on my driveway and in the garage for the winter, plus the 50hp two stroke makes it fun and again its lighter than a 4 stroke. Im getting twists etc in my lines, especially when im trying to setup my manual downriggers, if there is any slack in the line i usually endup with a line around the tip of my rod and have to untangle it. I use SDs and spoons, i have two swivels before each and two after the SD. Whats wrong? [ Post made via iPhone ]
