  1. Most of the fish we got last week were very bright. Very odd.
  2. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Weekend Wanderer ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 8/29 Time on Water: 8 hrs Weather/Temp: Nice. Wind Speed/Direction: <5 north Waves: <1 Surface Temp: 74 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 8 Total Boated: 5 Species Breakdown: Kings, Coho, Hot Lure: Shocker Spin- Doc/ Pro-am Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: 85-105 Lure Depth: 85-105 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Good bite. Doubled up once. Four hits on the riggers and four dipsy hits. 24.5 lb king. 9 lb coho. 7 lb coho. 26.5 lb king. 14 lb coho. Fun day. The best hit came when we were filleting fish. Had the five fish laying on deck ready to meet the knife(BAD mistake), when the dipsy gets smoked. Went to set the hook and slack. A minor kink in the wire and POP. Lost dipsy, 100 ft of wire, and the hot setup of the day. I guess you can never a good day with out a bad part. Good donation to the lake. Hope another doesn't happen soon.
  3. Fish were hot and cold. They'll be hot and heavy by next week hopefully.
  4. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Weekend Wanderer ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):8/23 Time on Water: 6 hrs Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: 10, west Waves: cocky rollers Surface Temp:74 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 5 Total Boated:4 Species Breakdown: Kings, Brown, and a coho. Hot Lure: Green/ green flasher fly. Trolling Speed: 2.3-2.6 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 115-135 Lure Depth: 115-135 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Left at 7:00. Set up at 7:45. Had three rods in the water and the ass port side rigger gets slammed. Fought it for a while till he breached and gave up. In the middle of that the ass starboard rigger gets slammed too. First one was 24. Second was 19. The 19# fish thought he was bigger. He cleared the water. Landed them both. Hooked both on a north troll. Went to the north dunes then turned around. On a west troll, we doubled browns on the dipsies. One was 3 and the other one we lost at the boat. We threw the 3 pounder back to be caught again. Didn't do anything till 11:30 headed south when the starboard dipsy gets smoked. Started at 330 and out to 800 he went. Thought it was a derby fish so cleaned up the other rods. At 200 out he jumped and went psycho for about a minute. After about 25 minutes, we see the fish. Something wasn't right. The fish came in by his ass. He broke the leader but we landed him still. The leader tangled around his tail. But we were even more shocked at what it was. Derby king? Nope. 18# coho! Crazy fight. Damn things jump like a prick. We out together a good box. Will be up next week, too. Ok bite today but slowed down in the afternoon. Good luck to all in the derby this week and weekend. See you next week.
  5. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Weekend Wanderer ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 8/22 Time on Water: 8hours Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: calm Waves: 1 to decreasing Surface Temp: 74* Location: Mexico bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 3 Total Boated:1 Species Breakdown: King Hot Lure: Green Spinny/ Pro-Am fly Trolling Speed: 2.1-2.7 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 120-145 Lure Depth: 115-140 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Put the boat in at 6. Set up at 6:20. 9:00- Port side dipsy fired in 125 with a Flasher/Fly combo out 330. Lost it. Didn't feel to big. 9:45- Starboard dipsy gets a good hit out 325. Fought it for 15 minutes till I saw him jump. Completely cleared the water. Dipsy, flasher, fly, and all line out of water. 21# pounder. Then it slowed down with no other rods to fire. Was cleaning up at 2:00, NBK Copper tripped on the rigger 120 down but nobody home. It's hot for some and cold for others but they'll be there hot and heavy out front soon enough. The one we caught wasn't that dark but was mature. No color scheme to work with. They didn't care.
  6. Why would anyone say anything about a sturgeon unless they want to look stupid? Sturgeon have no teeth and cannot pull off an act like that. There sure are Greenland sharks in Lake Ontario, but bull sharks are very unlikely because of how much cold water they have to travel to to get to Lake Ontario. There is something fishy pulling off tricks like this. It's not a salmon, musky, or some other mystery. Someone should fish for them and see what's really messing with our fish and equipment.
  7. Anybody ice fish piseco for lake trout, salmon, etc? If you do, what's your best fish caught through the ice?
  8. Nick, I read the same article. Hopefully it's better now. Thanks for the info chinook35 I'll look out for it. I think I know what you're talking about. Will be up soon and will be around. Look for weekend wanderer put of the north pond.
  9. When fishing for spring browns, I like staying in shallower than 20 feet. When fishing this shallow, you don't even need to use a downrigger. You can add or take off split shots or use the smaller torpedo sizes. Off planers, in about ten feet, I set them out 200 minimum. Planers about 40 feet away from the boat. Downriggers can be useful for getting an exact depth but when you're fishing that shallow, you don't see the fish on your FF. With stick baits like Rapalas and Smithwicks, I don't add any weight. Our best stick baits this year were blue and silver J06 Rapala and black and silver smithwicks. Our biggest brown though came off a chartreuse and silver HM spoon. Chartreuse and blue and blacks and silvers always to well for any fish but fish the chartreuse and blue in stained water and the blacks and silvers in clear. These colors just appeal better to the fish in those conditions. Speed between 2.0 To 2.5 is what we do. If there is a mudline, swing your boat in and out of that and have both color combos above out. If you find a pod of fish keep swinging around and looping over them. Concentrate on fishing Mexico Bay. Fish love hanging out in there. I know this info may not help you now since your trip was over but for future reference. Good Luck.
  10. Our boat needs 30inches of water at least to get through. We went around the island and watched people go between the shore and the closest buoy to the shore. We tried but got stuck for 2 and a half hours and had our buddy tow us out. It screws up your whole day. Oh well. Hey snowfall, I'll be there those days LOCing it on the lake. See you around.
  11. Last time I was up was Mother's Day and we got stuck in the channel. We ended up yanking the boat and towing her to Mexico Point for the day. 3 browns and several bass. Next time I will be up will be Fall LOC which will come soon enough. Thanks for the Info.
  12. Has anyone been fishing out of the ponds? I heard Mexico Bay was like a bath tub. Anyone have any reports? Good Fishing, Jared.
