  1. I left them a message on a Saturday (regarding a Pro 2) and I received a call back with an informative answer the following Monday morning.  Not bad in my book.  I wouldn't want to work the weekends either, I don't blame them.

  2. Agreed- a manual is best it's got lots of pictures! You'll need the mercury hinge pin tool. Just went through this whole effort on a '90 alpha 1. Fun stuff. I didn't use the bellow installation tool.

The job isn't really too bad but a second set of hands are needed at times. Good call just doing everything so you know you're covered. Get the full kit with a new shift cable too. Might as well. Oh yea you need some mercury bellow adhesive. Don't know why that's not included in the kit (the one I got anyway).

Good luck... And hurry!! It's time to fish!

  3. Got the scoop... 4+ years ago Shell Rotella would have been an excellent choice and many major marinas and mechanics recommended it. What most do not realize is about 4 years ago, Quaker State bought the Shell Rotella product line and maintained the brand without change... Well, to the name. They DID change the content of the oil and removed the zinc additive from it. Shell Rotella is now not a recommended oil for use in marine gas engines and has largely been removed from many marinas who used to use it. I'll go with the OEM quicksilver 25w40 oil. Still has the additives.

  4. I have one and my first impression is favorable.  I spooled 150yds of hi-vis yellow 50lb Power Pro and as much 45lb Blood Run Copper as I could get on it (maybe 450' or so) with a 30' Fluoro Leader.  The reel appears to be of great quality but time will tell as it gets used this year.  Definitely priced well for what you get compared to models with similar capabilities.

  5. Lots of folks are running the Rotella and I've heard great things. Some mechanics are recommending it. I Also have a 5.7L Merc 350mag and am considering going with it. Has anyone else been running Rotella T 15-40?

  6. I had the same initial concerns but have never had a tangle. I am conscious of the lead behind the stacked rod... I tend to keep it on the shorter side. I use chamberlain stacker releases.

  7. I will mention that the higher u get the reels the better off u will be. In high waves if the line is too low it will catch in the waves and affect how far out the board can go

Reels should be conveniently located. Pulleys should be as high as possible. I'm sure that's what you meant Adk1.

  8. Would of liked the power trim, tough market to find a 9.9 high thrust 4 stroke and e start long shaft used for a decent price. I may go with a combo power lift / bracket. Looking for feedback on similar model mounts .

Agreed. That's a slim market. Was under the impression it was a new purchase.

  9. Ahh Canadian currency. Gotcha. Your big box stores won't have the best deal.. I've found them for $1124 USD no tax and free ship.

Did you like the HDS 8? How do you like the touch? I haven't had the chance to play with one yet.

Best of luck in the sale!
