May be old school but I still use $15 camera flash.

I'm with rdebadts. I just gave my company the info and not a problem. I already had insurance on my previous boat and just replaced it with the new one. Don't know if that made a difference or not.

There's one for sale on the classifieds right now, extendable handle like the smaller one I have and not a bad price.

I'm carrying 2 as most do. 1 is 42"x36" with a 7' handle. The other is smaller at 30"x24" with a 5' handle. I usually use the larger for salmon but have had times where we netted 2 at once and the smaller one worked also.

I don't have a picture other than memories but by far my most memorable was a steelhead just under 14lbs that I successfully landed using 2lb leader in the big river.

I usually figure about 3-5' lower than the ball with a 50' lead. I don't know if it's right on but it's pretty close.

I break my rods and bring the tip against the butt leaving two guides side by side and have never had trouble with the wire kinking. As far as a knot I tie a loop with an overhand knot, insert loop through eye of large swivel and pull loop around entire swivel, then pull tight.

Believe it or not I got a decent smallmouth 60' down one day on J and another time a catfish down 30'. Not what I expected to see either time

X2 on both, 400 is long enough and go for 300. I took a lot of shots on 400 last year running the chute.

I run my divers no snubbers with a drag just tight enough to keep the reel from creeping out but loose enough that a fish takes line on the strike. On days when the waves start to make them creep I loop a rubber band on the wire to the reel handle. This stops the creeping but breaks as soon as a fish hits.

Pap I have the Cannons mounted to my riggers and run torpedoes with no problems.

Like Rippen Line says you don't need backing but if you do I would use use 50lb braid as backing and use the Albright Knot to attach wire to braid. When you attach the wire to the dipsey tie an overhand knot in the wire making a loop. Use a good quality swivel and run the end of the wire loop through the swivel eye, run the loop down and around the entire swivel thus now looping around the eye and pull tight. Attach your dipsey to the swivel and proceed to catch fish.

There is also a member, Greenboatluke, that is selling them in the classifieds. Very nice decals I might add.

I ran my own wires from a separate fuse box at the back of the boat. I used trolling motor connectors for the hook up to the riggers.

You can remove shot to make them lighter depending on flow of River and drift desired. One of my partners swears by them. I used them for awhile but eventually went back to pencil lead. To each their own.

This is a very good reel. I have two on my boat with copper.

Todd I've been below 1 with the Sub Troll and Gambler is right, that's why I'll also run the Fish Hawk this year as well. The other thing that I might have missed mentioned in this thread is not all will give the same reading at the same time.

There are days where no boat is safe on the lake. Like everyone said pick your days, watch the weather and as I've said before if the Coast Guard or a charter captain running radar says there's a storm coming, get off.
