  1. I posted this on the Lake Ontario Trolling Facebook Page and was told to ask here: Question guys, when I launched at Mexico the other day there was another boat launching at the same time. It was an older Bayliner but, please excuse me because I don't know what the style is called, it was a wider boat than my Trophy, hard top, perfect setup for trolling on the big lakes. I believe the name was the "Doghouse" on the boat. Does anyone know the name or model of this style Bayliner? Thanks!!! Im guessing it was an early 90's boat or late 80's.... also guessing it had to be a 23ft boat I want to start looking for one of these, seemed to give a lot more fishing space for my normal 3 guy crew than my Trophy does.
  2. Is there a particular station on the lake people chat on? In New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee we all chat on 12, I will be there Sunday and just curious if there was a common channel. Thanks!! -Scott
  3. Tom, could I get an invite? I may be out in the Middle east, but if not Id like to bring the Smells Like fish crew out there.
  4. Curious on the length of leader I should be using on the trolling flies behind the spin doctors and if you put a snap swivel on the leader or tie direct to the spin doctor? thanks!
  5. Im coming to Pulaski to fish on the 14th-17th if anyone wants to check these out.
  6. I know the short answer is read the regs...but just thought id ask for a quick answer. I know on Lake Champlain its 3 lines per person, I thought I read somewhere on lake O its 2 lines per person, can anyone point me in the right direction. thank you!
  7. Just noticed that there was a new reply to this so thought I would chime in with an update. Still having the problem, even installed brand new batteries and haven't used a voltage meter to check if fluctuations are happening on the batteries but I will this year. I installed Ferrites on just about every electrical cable I could find on the boat to see if that was causing any interference. I cant say that fixed anything, but it does seem to happen less now. Good news is it seems to not be as often, but it still does happen. Another way for me to combat the birds nesting issue or any real damage occurring is to set my up and down speed on the units to their lowest speed. This way if they start spooling a large amount of line I can stop it before it causes any damage with my cable. Leaving the clickers on the reels on also helps as an alert mechanism. Wish I had better news.
  8. Hey guys, A bit of an argument with a friend of mine so can someone help me clear it up. Will be out mid April for Browns. After the morning bite we will be going deeper with my copper setups and downriggers for lakers. If the remote chance happens we find some early kings, I am saying I need to have 20lb or heavier fluro on my rods, he is saying 12lb test. To me that's way too light in case any kings happen to be around. I know the lakers aren't line shy so going heavier shouldn't be an issue. What should I have for leader on those copper and downrigger setups that will be in deeper water? thanks! -SLFNH
  9. Hi all, Me and 2 buddies will be towing my boat out from NH on April 14th. We are all quite versed in trolling for Salmon and lakers on Winnipesaukee and Champlain, but have never taken the boat on to Ontario for this sort of a trip. I know Pulaski well from river fishing, but not boat fishing. My plan is currently to launch at Mexico and head North to fish in front of Grindstone, the Salmon, and any other little bodies of water that dump in to the lake in that general area. Would that be a good course of action, or should we head south towards the power plant? We have all the gear needed, just need to know if what we are doing is right. Also wanted to know, do you just flat line your stick baits or spoons on mono and fluro shot way back, or would 2 or 3 color lead setups also work with long fluro leaders? PM's are always appreciated if you don't want to give out too much information. Thanks in advance!!!! -SLF
  10. I have 4 TRL Big Lake Trolling rods for Sale. They are too heavy for the fishing I do in NH and Vermont but would be perfect for Ontario. 8'6" length, 15-40lb line is recommended. I've used these for my copper setups on Lake Champlain for about 4yrs they are in perfect condition. I'm sure I will have to ship them because I'm in New Hampshire. All 4 rods for $160 plus shipping. Reels not included. Thanks!! -Scott
  11. Bumping this up to see if anyone else has a lead on these. Thanks!
  12. I want to change out the rods I have been using on my coppers. I currently have 4 Trophy TRL 8'6" "Big Lake Trolling" rods. They have done the job for me but honestly have no flex, its like having a reel attached to a pool cue. I have Eagle Claw 8'6" Starfires for all of my leadcore setups as well as for my downrigger setups. Does anyone use the 10' Starfires for their coppers? What are some good options for the coppers where I can feel the fight of the fish thaty have some good flex and can handle 200-300ft copper segments. Thanks!! -Scott
  13. Thanks!!! I had no clue, I have 4 of them and no idea where I even got them. They work great though.
  14. Anyone know where I can get some? Thanks!
  15. Does anyone know who makes or distributes these, and more importantly where I can buy some? Specifically im looking for "Sammy Pac 31's" Thanks!! -Scott
  16. Guys, does anyone use them (spin doctors) while targeting lakers or just use a standard Luhr Jensen style dodger/flasher when targeting them? Thanks in advance!
  17. OK they are the same things I thought they were, we just don't run them off the lines here, at least no one I know does. We hang them off the balls and troll the lure a few feet behind them on a stacking chamberlain release so that the lure doesn't get tangled in them. The verticals go on the downrigger cable and the ball attaches to the bottom. thanks!!!
