  1. Once again Sodus spring browns did not disappoint. Got on the water at 6:45 and ran west a bit. Set up in 20fow, hit our first fish as soon as I set the first line on the planer board. Continued with steady action all the way west to bootleggers until we lost good water color. Turned back east and hooked into a very nice fish. Took us 30 minutes to get the 12lb brown in the net. Spent the day between 20-30fow, temps ranged from 42-44 degrees. We ended with 15 browns, 1 small steelhead and an even smaller king. Almost all fish came on spoons with caddy shack, fire tiger, monkey puke, and killer dolphin taking the most fish.
  2. Yes 15-25 fow has been the ticket for the past couple of trips. Last Saturday was the best day I have ever had up there. Today was slower but still great . I run big boards with leads 120, 100 & 80 feet back. Riggers 45&55 feet back down 7 to 12 feet. Fifteen pound mono with a 12 pound leader.
  3. That was my thought too, but didn’t want to jinx myself.
  4. Took the family up to Sodus today for some fun chasing browns. It didn’t disappoint. Caught 11 between 8:30 and 12:30 before we called it because they were cold. Lost five, two of which seemed like very nice fish. One broke the leader after peeling a bunch of line. Found a couple pockets of 43 degree water west of Maxwell that held fish. Most of the action was on spoons but a few on sticks. Purple clown was the hottest spoon. IMG_2741.mov
  5. Decided to make a shake down trip with the new to me boat on Sunday out of Watkins. I spent time this winter setting it up with Scotty riggers, tripple rod holders on each side and rewiring a lot of the electronics that were in desperate need from the previous owner, so it was great to hit the water. Took two buddies and we got to the launch around 8:30. Water color was terrific and surface temp was 38. Headed to the east side first, nothing happening so we went across to Hector Falls. Found numerous Rainbows a Landlocked and a very respectable 6# Brown. For it being my first time fishing out of the boat and having a lot of figuring out to do while setting up I couldn’t be happier with the trip. The hot spoon was caddy shack, perch rapala took several plus one on a jointed fire tiger.
  6. Heading to Canandaigua for the first time on Saturday. Going to launch from Woodville targeting silvers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Considering going out on Cayuga this Saturday. What launches are open and able to handle a 20’ boat with a 8’ stand up top? I typically launch at Deans cove. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. Thinking of heading out after some browns this weekend. Does anyone know if the Sodus Coast Guard launch is ice free?
  9. We hit the lake this morning with hopes of finding some silvers in the shallows. We were in 14 fow skirting the edges of the docks with the planer boards. The first rod of the morning ripped off the planer board, bent right over and took off running like I expected a brown to do. I grabbed it and handed it off to my 4 year old daughter only to find out it was much heavier than I thought it was. She battled it for a while with my help before handing it off. We got it to the back of the boat and it was a big laker. It weighed in at 9.5# hitting on a j-7 fire tiger. We went 5 for 6 all lakers from 8:30-11:30. We had a couple crushing hits. Shallow water lakers are a lot more fun than ones from the deep.
  10. Ended up having a decent day for fishing with a three year old and only running two riggers because I forgot the boxes with my dispeys in them. Got set up around 8:30 and fished till 11:30. Went 4-4 on lakers with all fish coming between Wells College and Long Point. Ran right on the bottom around 80-120 fow. Marked a lot of suspended fish but couldn't get them to bite. My daughter wanted to take a couple home to cook the other two we released.
  11. I have the day off from work this Friday and am looking to take my daughter out on Cayuga. I haven't been over there since about this time last year so I'm looking for some tips. Thinking of fishing out of Deans Cove. Thanks in advance.
  12. A 3" Hi-tec that is half green half white on the front with an all white back. I have no idea what it's called. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Fished the last two weekends out of Sodus and had non stop action. Took my dad up this morning, and had to work really hard for the two fish we got. Set up around the trailer park and worked west. Water was 40-44 degrees running from 8-20 feet. Both fish came on green spoons on riggers. We launched at the Coast Guard Station but the dock was under water and needed my muck boots. It looked like they were going to close it down this afternoon. Took one home to cook tonight for dinner. 14. Thinking of heading to Sodus this weekend. Any info about the launches or how the fishing has been would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Went to the flea market in Watkins then launched the boat around 10. Got set up and fished for about 5 minutes before the wind picked up and blew us off the lake. Boat ran great, still got some kinks to work out with the two extra riggers I got over winter. We marked a lot of bait with fish all around it in the short time we were out. Did manage to boat one "fish" after the deep rigger touched the bottom. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Green Ducks Unlimited hoodie. Going to Curly's for breakfast before the show. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I will be there, planning on hitting the lake for a few hours before the show if the rain isn't too bad.
  18. Watkins Launches? Maybe Cayuga Just wondering if either of the launches in Watkins are open? I'm thinking of making a shake down Sunday morning before the flea market. Also debating between there or running over to Cayuga. Thoughts?
  19. I'm headed over to Cayuga for the first time this weekend any tips would be great. You guys seem to be having great luck over there and I don't want to be missing out. I plan to launch from Deans and troll around there. How have the fleas and weeds been? Thanks in advance for the help.
  20. Are these still available? I would be interested in two of them.
  21. We had the same thing on Sunday found it to be pretty productive for us to fish just below it. We ran dipsys down there and got some decent lakers. We were hoping for something besides a laker but that didn't happen. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Fished Sunday on the north end. Started out by Bellhurst had a large laker hit the dipsy down about 40' over 60 fow. Lost it right at the back of the boat. Trolled around there for another hour couldn't move a rod so we headed over to high banks. Just as we got to the east side and turned south a rigger popped 120' on the bottom. Trolled back and forth on the east side for two hours picking up fish the whole time. We went 5/6 for the day. Stayed in the 120-125 range and found what I believe to be a thermocline around 40-45 so we set diosys in there and they were just as productive as the riggers. Got to try out my new dipsy reels I got for Father's Day, Penn 209LC's. They worked great! Oh and no fleas yet. After the fishing I met my wife and 8 month old daughter at the dock for her first boat ride. It went very well and I hope to have her out fishing in a couple years.
