    Frogger, I have had my 9.8 Tohatsu new since 2009. It is dependable, super efficient and basically wonderful. I use it as a kicker on my 190 Starcraft Superfisherman. It acts as a second motor as well as my troller. I also use it on my 13 ft Meyers for Hemlock lake and others where small craft are the limit. In the past 20 years I have had or been partners in many 2 strokes and 4 strokes. For my money the Tohatsu is the only one I will have. I believe this bad boy will out last me. Mine is not electric start so I can't comment on charging. It's basically a 1 pull machine and has been since 2009.

    That's what I do. I travel to St. Lawrence for muskie, pike and eyes, Adirondacks for pike, finger lakes for lakers, eyes etc., lake erie for eyes and perch. I like the room and the tow-ability. Just for giggles I'll send some pictures. Good luck.

    I started like you. Found the SFM i wanted and learned with it. I have a 1992 version that I have been upgrading. It now has been re-powered with Merc optimax added new canvas etc. I am going to buy new this time.     How big of a yank are you for the Super fisherman? I have a 190 that will be available after season.

    Well I'm back ....Sunday sucked with a heavy west wind and big rollers....Monday sucked with the same. Got beat up pretty good...Tuesday was the winner, fished the 100 ft section along the east side of the lake north of sampson to the point . got into them where the deep changes fromm 100+ to 80 +/_ . Two steel head and a decent laker.. dodger fly and green spoons. This morning nothing but tangled lines before we had to pull up by 10 am. Thanks again for the encouragement and the info. much appreciated. ps. I saw very very few boats out there. Felt like somebody knew something I didn't.

    Hi guys....I"m preparing for hitting seneca on Monday thru Wednesday...have been following the conversation...we will be base camping and launching from Sampson... hoping for laker action or other as advised....please comment on a viable start point. Thanks in advance, Whitrook1

    I have to be careful when Miss O has a tantrum.....I live in Catt County and when I want try lake Ontario I have to study all my sources for weather an waves because it such a long haul. Wind that wip wave heights 4 to 6 feet are to much for my 190.

    I had success on Lake Harris (res.). Actually it's quite the fishery..... Pike, Bass, Perch et al....two (2) nice walley from near the dam out of about 40 ft. using lead core and worm harness. Get ready for some trolling time.

    With the big O giving me trouble with my 19 footer and weather so unpredictable I headed for Seneca for a couple days. Although the weather continued to be in qustion we found laker fishing very good in 80 FOW. Camped at Sampson and was able to enjoy decent water and a catch every hour. Dodger and fly deep and fire tiger on dipsey to 50 FOW.

    I observed the same type of problem with mine. Two things: (1) Tighten the kicker moter swivel adjustment enough to provide some resistance. (2) EZ steer now offers a "bungee" type cord that is designed to address such an issue as we are experiencing. I think I'm going to order the "bungee cord" for this season and see. Out side of that I really like the damn thing.
