  1. My parents just came back home from a 10 day trip to Homer. They went with another couple and ended up renting a house on the water. All 4 of them fished this past Tuesday, July 13th. Only 3 of them fished Wednesday, the other wife didnt want to be tossed around in the boat because it was pretty rough out there. They chartered a boat just for the 4 of them for 2 full days of fishing. It was pretty expensive, but they are already talking about booking another trip next year because Dad was saying it was definitely worth it. Both days they easily limited out on halibut. They caught a few ling cod afterwards and a lot of rock fish as well. Of course, my mom has never been interested in going fishing with dad and i..not even once. she didnt want to miss this opportunity and experience though. She ended up boating the largest fish out of the 2 days though. it weighed 71lbs. They had 3 fish that were over 100lbs, and all of them seemed to break loose just before the captain could shoot and gaf them. Since the limit on halibut is only 2 per person, per day, they through quite a few fish back. They planned on fishing for salmon, the afternoon of the second day, but it was too rough. Thats the only bad part about booking a trip like this...you can never predict the weather. heres a few pictures..... moms 71lb halibut with the rest of the catch from day 1. a 16lb ling cod and a few rock fish and a small king that dad wanted for smoking. mom, chuck and dad on the 2nd day a 33lb halibut, rock fish, a red eye and the rest of the halibut limit they fished with Silver Fox charters in Homer. a couple other random pictures from their trip... driving to their rental house from the deck, overlooking the bay
  2. nice fish!
  3. thanks! its my best laker this season on canandaigua
  4. Well, we got a pretty late start. My father and I didnt get on the water till a little before 9am. We launched on the North end and started in 60 FOW, just south of Thendara. Bouncing the bottom with the riggers the whole time, we moved out to 90 and bam, the first release. just a small 2-3 pounder. We caught 4 more fish, all just about the same size in the next hour, hour and a half. We trolled accross the lake to the west side, just shy of Wegman's house and headed North. I dropped one of the riggers down to 125 when we were over 220 FOW and it almost instantly released, another 3 pounder, in the middle of the lake. By the time we worked our way back into 90 FOW it was getting close to lunch time, and the fishing died off. Just South of German Brothers, we deided to call it a day. While popping the last rod, that was on bottom, the big boy of the day hit. We ended up going 11 for 11, by far, our best day out on Canandaigua this season. Suttons were all we used. silvers, but didnt matter what size. they hit them all.
  5. We were out from 6:00-noon and never had a release. we marked a lot of fish from the pump house down to german brothers on the bottom from 50-70 FOW, but nothing hit..so we decided to fill the boat up with perch in 20 FOW infront of the yacht club. great day to be on the water though!
