  3. Thanks everyone, we were all upset that the fish wasn't able to be released. Paul, I knew we had a good one on when I sent you the picture mid-fight! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Launched at the North end with the whole family and made the run down to Danny ' s place. Ran 3 divers and 2 riggers. We never moved a rod from 7-10am. The girls were definitely getting bored. We made the last circle through and started trolling north to pull rods. As soon as the boat straightened out I popped the deep rigger that was at 125' and fish on. Small 20" laker. Unfortunately my daughter had lost interest in the 3 hour lull and didn't want anything to do with fishing..just wanted to play with the hose and stick her feet in the livewell. That rigger and the white/green dot SD and green Atomik Fly was sent back down. We figured we had a half hour before the pleasure boaters woke up from a long night. 2 more small lakers were picked up on that set up. At 1030 the mag diver on a 1 setting out 150' pulling a black with green dot SD got crushed. Drag wasn't screaming but it was a constant peel that went to 230'. My girlfriend didn't have a clue what to do. I figured it was a nice 10 - 11lbs laker just sitting back there with his mouth open. 25 minutes later after numerous breaks and a request for gloves because of sore hands...I scooped the net under a monster trout. Dad and I caught and successfully released one just over 17lbs last season and this fish looked bigger to me! We took 2 quick pictures and I leaned over the side of the boat to get the water through his gills. After 5 minutes, there wasn't even a kick of the tail. Not sure how to cook and eat an old boot but we're going to give it a shot smoking it. We were all upset that reviving didn't work. After all the rods were pulled we put a scale on the fish. 16lbs 9oz. Now I think she understands why on my days off I get up at 4am to go fishing. I think she's finally hooked. Oh and this fish was stocked...right anal fin and adipose were both clipped. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

    Canandaigua Canandaigua Cabins ?

Onanda park on West Lake Road has 6 or 7 different sized cabins for rent. I'm not sure about prices but a quick call to canandaigua parks dept. should get you that information. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. I took my wife and daughter for a boat ride yesterday afternoon and decided to drop 2 riggers down in front of Danny's house and had the same issue! I left the diver rods and net at home so there would be more room in the boat. I changed speed, dirrection and even tried popping a rod from the release while going through the schools. Nothing....isnt that new house on the north west side you have in the 3rd picture something else though?? huge! I cant imagine what just the stone work alone would cost?!? ...I dont think I want to know haha. My father and I will probably make it out a few more times before putting the boat away for the season. Cant beat those fresh rainbows on the grill! -Chris Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Thanks guys, it definitely made our season unforgettable. I'm just glad I was able to revive the old brute Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I dont post much on here because lately on canandaigua our luck hasnt been the greatest, just a couple 2-3 pounders every once in a while. Dad and I fished quite a bit on Lake O when the weather permitted and we did quite well. Friday night we were talking and couldnt decide what the plan for this morning would be...go to the Genesee and troll for the half dead boots or try and hook up with a few fish for the grill on canandaigua. Well thankfully we chose the later. 2 downriggers with assorted spoons throughout the morning which combined only produced 2 releases. All our fish came off the 2 wire divers. One was set at 230' on a 3 setting with a wonderbread spin dr and a white A-Tom-Ik fly. The second diver was set at 185' on a 3 setting as well with a mtn dew crush spin dr with a green glow A-tom-ik fly following. After a few of the usual 2-3lb lakers coming off the 230' diver, the 185 takes a shot and ended up being a 5.5lb bow hooked deep so in the box it went. After a good 45 minute lull, the 185' diver takes another shot with 2 short rips of drag. With the light rain all morning my father wanted nothing to do with bringing a fish in, he was more comfortable steering the boat while wearing his rain jacket underneath the soft top. As soon as this fish hit he jumped and said "I got this one." I handed him the rod and I could tell it was a solid fish. The first few minutes of the fight was just one violent headshake after another. After 15 minutes I dipped the net under the biggest laker we have ever caught on canandaigua lake, and probably ever will. We were shocked at first and then the high 5's and smiles came out. We weighed the fish and the scale read 17.5lbs! We both quickly decided after a couple pictures that this fish deserved to be released. I held the boat along the side of the boat for a good 5 minutes before I felt like the fish had a chance. With one slow slap of the tail dad's laker gracefully swam away. ....I couldnt help it, I wanted a quick picture with the old fish before reviving it. 11. Sounds like a GREAT day! Your safe for another day GAMBLER! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  12. I think it might be the only choice we have [ Post made via iPhone ]
  13. I had the same issue...intermittent readings and sometimes nothing at all. Made a call to cannon, and they asked me to send the probe in. I was told it was probably a bad seal. A new probe was on my front steps in less than a week....with NO issues since. It just took a few calls to get anyone to help me out...other than that, no complaints now! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  14. Oh I thought it was a combination of both? I saw a DEC sign up on one of the fences at one point early on....either way, could the contamination have come from their clean up? [ Post made via iPhone ]
  15. Think it could be oil from where the DEC was drilling in the old wegmans plaza and they just aren't telling the public?? Funny how this has become an issue after the DEC was finished with their project... [ Post made via iPhone ]
  16. Suttons have been one of our top performers on canandaigua...they even worked well for us on Cayuga when we were there during the week of the 4th
  17. Hopefully not buckets full of "chum?" [ Post made via iPhone ]
  18. Great job! It's funny how a slow day of fishing can be forgotten about, with a half hour of mayhem at the back of the boat! [ Post made via iPhone ]
  19. Great tip for reviving the big guys! We had a hard time Sunday morning with one, after 5 minutes of holding him over the side, he finally kicked away. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  20. There's rarely a time when we aren't together on the water, or in the woods....we just never expected action like that, right out of the gate, for a couple weekend warriors who mainly fish the fingerlakes..it was AWESOME! Thankfully this new boat can handle some stronger waves so we can put more time on lake O than we could with the old 16' [ Post made via iPhone ]
  21. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Ripped Sneaker ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 7/15 Time on Water: 6am to 10am Weather/Temp: 80 Wind Speed/Direction: south-south west Waves: >1 Surface Temp: 74 Location: IBay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 7 Total Boated: 6 Species Breakdown: Kings and Bows Hot Lure: White green dot SD with Hammer and NK SSW Mag Trolling Speed: 3.0 Down Speed: 2.5-2.7 Boat Depth: 90-130 Lure Depth: 55-70 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Dad and I were on the water at 5:45am and setting lines at 6 once we ran ou to 90FOW. I set the port rigger down 70 with an NK SSW MAG. I just set the line into the release on the starboard rigger and I hear my dad yell "fish on!" i ran and grabbed the rod, holding it while drag was ripping, i asked if he wanted the fist fish. he turned it down, which paid off for him later on...Thankfully there wasnt any other rods down, just the one line dragging at the surface...This king ripped out to 300' and then went slack! He charged the boat as fast as he screamed away. i cranked down as fast as i could and was able to get back down onto him while he was up on the surface...but infront of the boat! a few quick maneuvers by Dad at the wheel had the fish back behind the boat. a Few more minutes of wrestling around the stern and he hit the deck. My personal best so far, as were still new to Lake O fishing...23lbs on our scale. after a few pictures i got back to setting lines. Both riggers set, now time for the wire divers. The port side was set out 250' on a 2 1/2 setting with a white/green dot SD and a hammer fly. i just picked up the other diver rod and the drag was SCREAMING on the first, and i hear my dad say "Thats mine!! THATS MINE!" by the time he left the wheel and grabbed the rod, the fish had reached 400'. I cleared the 2 riggers out of the way while trying to keep control of the boat as well. This king wanted nothing to do with the boat. 15 minutes after the initial run, he was with in 30' of the boat, on the surface, then...seeya...back out to 250'. Another 15 minutes later and both Dad and the fish were tired out...a half hour after the initial run, dads 26.8lb king was in he boat! After pictures and a 5 minute assisted swim along side of the boat, the king kicked away to be caught another day. This all happened in the first hour! We would go on and lose 1 more king and boat 4 Bows, all in the 4-5lb range. All in all, this was one of the best trips my father and I have had together and will remember for a long, long time!
  22. "When the Cannon worked the way it was intended to it was AMAZING." As always, great report, fish like that sure have a will to survive! What problems were you having? Ours is brand new this year and it's been nothing but problems. It will work for an hour or less, and than go blank. A few hours later, it will come back on....or it will read depth and speed, but no temp. Nobody at cannon has been of any help either. [ Post made via iPhone ]
