I havnt heard many good things about the new 870's, from what I've gathered most are disappointed in the quality compared to the old ones. I've got the old wing master and wouldn't trade it for anything
The wmu I hunt here, you get one tag only. And in a neighbouring wmu you can get one extra doe tag. But anyways, in the area I hunt we get the one tag and that's IT from October 1-december31. That tag is also your tag for one of 2 SG/ML hunts depending on which one you pick to hunt in. One is first week of November, the other is first week of December.
And that one tag is good for a doe in the wmu you applied for or buck anywhere in ontario. You see our conservation officers out a lot more lately with the minimal amount of tags givin out.
But I've noticed with the tag cutbacks you hear of a lot more people getting nailed for hunting without a tag or doing the old "tag shouffle" just because they want to hunt the whole season.
I hunt in southern ontario here so this may not apply to you guys..but here our deer #'s are down in most areas but this year especially, the freaking wind has been so I consistant its not even funny. This past week the wind changed 360 deg probly atleast a dozen times.
I'm starting to thing with the wind changing like this the deer have no idea where and when it is safe to move..
I'm not sure this might be a fetched tail, we have no where near the amount of deer you guys have, I've taken a buck and a doe, but I've concentrated my efforts in the least pressured spots I have. we get no extra tags here for the most part, only a few wmu's in ontario still give out additionals now when back 5 years ago you could take as many as 6 per guy.
I'm sorry to think this but it looks like your dec might be shooting themselves in the foot giving out tags like that.
Our second one week gun hunt starts tomorrow here, we'll see what happens.
For the breakfast sausage do you just form your own patties with your ground? I do all my ground and havnt tried doing breakfast sausage. I've got the cabelas grinder deal too, it's the Taj Mahal for doing stuff like this.
Nice job on the 2 does too!
The person that took that shot needs to go through hunted Ed again...very marginal shot that should have never been taken....atleast the deer seems to be doing alright. Cool pic.
Get him shooting some heavier bolt and some 150gr boltcutters made by Excalibur... Heavy arrows and a tough fixed blade is a bone crushing combo with high speed xbows
Well everyone looks like the wind has arrived, sunday looks a little more promising than saturday. Good wknd to catch up on some sleep, wash hunting clothes and touch up broadhead blades. Looks like warmer temps next week which is not ideal..
Well jakeybaby your idea about the wind seems to just keep hittin home the wind was east last night and now this am its WNW. I'm Afraid it's going to keep swirling as the morning goes on...
On the bright side I've got 4" of mud on my feet from walking the wheat field this am.
