  1. Hey Rob thx for the help. Might explore the new ramp and report back. Where is It? Do you know? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. Can someone suggest a good spot to launch in Bronte? Parking etc... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. I’m running cannon mag 10’s. Replaced the cable last year with camo cable from cannon. Using 15lb sharks. I use the riggers all day and at the end of the day I take the sharks off and the cable is kinked and twisted. Any idea why?? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Hey gang, I'm pretty new to salmon fishing on Lake Ontario. This is my 4th season. It's been hot all week and the weekend is supposed to be a lot cooler. Dropping from 90's into the 70's. Do cold fronts (or cooler fronts) slow the bite down out in the big lake? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. I'm not a big fish fan and I DON'T eat anything out of the Great Lakes anyway. Love the fight but you guys can eat them. Any lake that has beaches that are not recommended for swimming due to fecal count should not be use for table fare. I know you can and people due...just my personal Phobia. I'll take a northern walleye shore lunch instead. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. I saw a post on here a few years ago and someone said they wash their boat with pine sol. Apparently the bugs don't like it. I keep a spray bottle of it on board but haven't really tested it. Good for cleaning blood off the deck I guess. I usually just use one on my crocs to smash them against a cooler and sweep them up after a hour. Maybe try wearing a buff. I think I would wear shorts and T with a full bug suit if I got that reaction. Bugs couldn't get at you and you wouldn't boil. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Anybody know if it's worth heading out in port credit this early in the season? Are the fish there or is it better to wait for July/August? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. It's time to change the cable on my mag 10's. Never done it before and I don't want to mess up the stop at the water line feature. Can anyone explain the difficulty and a basic step by step? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Fleas were bad yesterday. Lots on the riggers 75/95' but nothing on the leadcore. No fish on the leadcore either.
  10. I had a spooky encounter on Georgian Bay when I was in my 20's. A storm was moving in and you could just feel the electricity in the air all of a sudden. I was standing on the bow of my boat working the trolling motor, looking for another spot to flip. I noticed 2-3 small blue lines come from my rod tip...looked like mini lightening bolts. Dropped the rod right away and bailed! Storm moved in so fast it caught me off guard. Never did rain, thunder or lightening...just very dark clouds.
  11. So if I understand this correctly... Warm water-no good Cold water-Good So the west end of the lake should be slow fishing for the next day or two?
  12. Where can you launch in Oakville? Oakville Harbour downtown? What's the ramp like? Parking? Fees?
  13. I do not have a radio...yet. I was thinking about picking one up as cell reception is nill in some areas. I have towed and been towed in the smaller inland lakes here in Ontario and know the feeling. I have never had to wait long for help. I can understand how it could have been a spooky feeling with no power in the middle of Lake Ontario. 200FOW is 10 miles out here. Isn't it illegal to ignore a distress call...never mind unethical! Got my rigger cables all tangled up last year in the middle of the fleet and thought for sure I was going to have to spoil someone's day. Figured it out thank god.
  14. I have never fished the Oakville area before but I launch 10 km east out of port credit all the time. Lakefront promenade ramp is clean with washrooms and is big with 2 launches. Get there early as parking can be a pain on weekends...lots of 11' cars parked in the middle of truck/trailer spots to go for picnics. 100 FOW is about 3-4 miles from shore but I often see boats fishing much shallower going for steelhead I'm guessing. Kings are there!
