  1. You could snell an octupus hook, add a small bead and twinky ( say, on the last fly) just to experiment? I had sent some twinky rigs to a buddy who fishes out west on Vancouver Island. He had never heard about them. I sent him a few twinky rigs and a few Rhys Davis heads with MCRockets, he caught fish, but also got cut off by small sharks bitting the flies!
  2. Solid fish! Love it. Have you ever jigged up any salmon while targeting lakers? Or specifically target salmon? Salmon jigging seems to be popular on lake Michigan.
  3. So true... "but the fish don't read the internet so they don't know what they are supposed to do.... " Caught lots of fish out of temp before. I know what fishnfreak means by trying to keep the bait in the "correct temp", as I also tend to do the same thing. Knotlost Charters and Captain Rich, thank you guys for all the info and help you post on here.
  4. I found a roll of round weedwacker line at Home Depot and crimps (get the smallest that the cable fits inside). I made my leaders 36" long. I just used a pair of vise grips to crimp, never had an issue. It's much easier to setup as the cannonball stays in the water and you can see the rod tip move if a small fish hits.
  5. That's an awesome outing wallaholic, great report, thanks! You sure had those fish dialed in, good job. I have not been out in that area yet, but I look forward to.
  6. Sounds good, 10mph + does get bumpy for sure. It's a 3hr + ride to Mexico for me, so I'll wait for better conditions, where I can fish longer. What website do you guys use for wind forecast? I'm looking at WindGuru, at Southwick Beach.
  7. Thanks chinook35, I'll wait for better conditions.
  8. I'm fishing out of an 18ft boat. I would like to try Henderson / Sandy Pond area this weekend, but the forecast is calling for winds out of SW at 11 to 14 mph. Not sure if I should make the run or trailer to Mexico / Oswego? E
  9. Went to Cobourg on the weekend, it was very slow. Trolled in 40 ft to 100, saw tons of bait, few hooks but no hits. Had riggers, lead cores and dipsys out. Heard that a few fish were caught out of Port Hope, lots of boats came back with zero fish. good luck, I hope it turns on! let us know how you make out. E
