  1. I hunted all day today and saw a 4 point and a doe,2 other guys on our lease had bucks chasing does throughout the day- no shots. I did see the strangest thing this morning. I had a red fox walking tree top to tree top on the ground hunting his way through, 5 minutes after he leaves my sight a fisher comes tearing A$$ on his same exact route over the tree tops, including where the fox backtracked following him. Pretty cool- first I’ve seen one in the woods, got some on my cameras. I’m hunting in Farmersville in cattaraugus county

  2. Wow- that is impressive - shore owners beware!! Duck hunters rejoice- bird pushing winds there. So very happy I sold my bills tickets for today this summer!!! It’s equally as miserable on the west end

  3. Play around with fly leader length and color. White flies( 22") took all my fish yesterday- all with different colored spin doctors. 21" and 23" same fly took no hits. In the same depth. Coincidence or not I don't know- staging kings can be frustrating- your just starting out so once you get some experience and read the info on this great site it will all come together for you. Use the 11" for cutbait or use longer fly leader lengths. Good luck

The Hen was dropping eggs when we picked her up- To the Ohio charter boat who tried his best to push me out of his way when there wasn't another boat around me/ How'd it feel to see my dipsey go tearing out when you were 30 yards from me[emoji16][emoji16]now bring me some cold weather so I can make Bobs adirondack chowder

  5. -I look back at when I was finally legal to hunt in NY and my Dad and I spent every weekend in the woods together hunting tree rats and grouse.Still brings a smile to my face thinking about it. My dad is still here but he just can't put all the miles on his knees anymore. Enjoy the time spent together. I still have the tail from my first squirrel I shot 33 years ago. That one squirrel cemented my passion for hunting

Giz- I believe red oaks produce best every other year. I am in Eden in southern Erie county- south of Buffalo. Last year we had next to no acorns- this year they are everywhere- the weather may have hit you at just the wrong time? I'm no forester but just a thought

  7. The soup I make is your basic chicken noodle but with jalapeño's -makes a great spicy broth. I also make a pot pie out of them. My mother is repulsed by the thought of squirrels but after coaxing her into trying it she loves both those recipes. They also make a great stew. Squirrels are a great way to get the young ones into hunting and also a great way to sharpen up stalking skills no matter your age.

  8. I was on vacation yesterday and today but the North wind kept me from fishing. I was determined not to waste both vacation days so I grabbed my 22 and hit the squirrel woods this AM. 41 degrees sunny and calm. A beautiful morning to be in the woods. Managed a few for my jalepeno and squirrel soup on a future cold fall day at hunting campIMG_0596.JPG
