  1. Yap I use that tecnique for lakers on simcoe. You hang the jig 10fo of the buttom and put the rod in rod holder , boat motion more then enough to make fish interested , as soon as you see fish comes to investigate you start to reel in the line , i dont know why but lakers love to chase it , so you keep the speed fast but letting the fish to close in on it and boom ! Some days they will chase it all the way from 110ft to 20ft. --- But you got to have a flasher or realtine scope on a side (like my elite 7 ) Thats there you keeping the eyes on ----- Thats the pic frim last year. There is fish on the buttom , and my jig on top (and more fish higher ) And on the right is the real time sonar (amplitude scope) ---- Catch ratio is im getting 4 lakers , while guys trolling getting one or two.
  2. Will be keep trying I guess if i launch the boat in Markham the same fishing techniques apply ? Its closer to my home - so i can spend more time on water ðŸ‘
  3. Well looks like ill have try a trolling motor. Since outboard giving me about 4kmh
  4. Went out on sunday from st. Cathrines. Not much luck for me. End up with one laketrout on 170fow. Caught on jigging ) So probably its gonnatake a while for me to start catching on lake ontario --- Also my boat having a speed of 3.7 - 4km/h on idle. Is that ok ? Or too fast?
  5. Hi guys , on sunday went fishing on lake ontario (first time ever ) launched in st. Catharines and had not much luck , many boats was trolling in 45fow so i tryed to , worked from 20 to 120fow , no luck - tryed downrigger , planners , flat line - is there something im doing wrong ? What concerns me is i never marked a fish on my sonar in those depths. So i started to explore all the way till 170 fow , there i got some marks near the buttom - so i took out my jigging rod and few minutes later end up with a lake trout. But my plans was to target a steelhead ) Any advice? Thanks
  6. Didnt had any luck with humminbird. Got a Lowrance elite 7 HDI. ----- And ill tell you its the best $$ i ever spend. This thing is AMAZING ! Not sure about HDS series , as far as i know they gread only if you running a sidescan package. But the price is killer
  7. My father is not into fishing at all , insted im taking him and mom fishing , and he always working the camera and taking pictures 😂😂 ---- But my grandpa loved fishing and thanks to him i DO , sadly he passed away in 2003 and we moved to canada , and i took my first spining rod witch he gave me with me to canada as memory of him. Will post a pic when i have a chance
  8. Im using a 10lb pancake , the blow back is minimal at 100ft (didnt had a chance to fish deeper) The only drawback is the PRICE
  9. I would stick to gasoline on outboard. Savings will be minimum, plus the cold strart is tricky on propane. Never the less its not realy optimal for the engine - regular gas give you lubrication when engine running , propane does not - on the long run you will get a ring issues (like a taxi cabs) Plus if you runout of propane (perhaps you had a leak ) - you'll had a hard time finding a person on the water who have a bbq tank ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ ---- And you might have a chance to launch your engine cover to the earth orbit in case of some fealure 😂😂😂
  10. Hey guys , i have a silly question Took my boat out of storage , bolted a new cannon downrigger , and want to try my luck on lake ontario this week , i have also noticed that most people are flat lining in this time of the year- is that the case ? is there a good spot near gta ? The only place ive been before is launch on brimley road. Also any tips like dephs will be apriciated Thanks
