  1. Thank you! From what I read, spurs are illegal on stateland but I haven't read anything saying so on private land. I'll look into it. Do you have a set up you want to sell, or recommend?

I dont recall the make of my saddle.... i bought it around 2006 and all the branding has worn off. Its polypropylene and re enforced with heavy webbing. I used lineman pole climbing spikes. Took a little practice. I would recommend practicing climbing with the spikes prior to hunting. Also, when you get good you can climb with just ur hands but a strap is a lot easier. Particularly when hauling equipment up the tree. Good luck! Im getting itchy to pull my saddle out now. Lost 100# this year. Might just be able to get my fat butt up the tree[emoji23].

  2. Smb were what we used to catch and eat when I was a kid growing up on the SLR. They were much smaller then.... 1.5-2.5#. I still remember my grandmother cooking the fillets and how great they tasted. I don't keep many bass now.... but the smaller smb I keep sure are tasty!

  3. Thanks for the info!! We were blown off the lake and only fished for a few hours. It was not ideal. Did manage a few eyes. The baitfish seemed very abundant. Appreciate the direction.

  4. Hello. Wondering if anyone might have some recommendations for oneida. I do a weekend fishing trip every fall with a bunch of guys I used to work with. We usually fish the st Lawrence but the water conditions this year prevented the boat from going in. So we are trying our luck at oneida since its closer for everyone. Launching from Cleveland. Targeting smallies and walleye.... but really anything that bites. Any direction is very much appreciated as oneida is very new to us all. Thank you and tight lines.

  6. I use Lefty's Spices LLC- fish and chicken mix. I add a some corn meal or bread crumbs to the mix for a little more crunch but its quite tasty.

  7. I have hunted in a saddle and used climbing spurs. The mobility is phenomenal. However, it is challenging to get into a steady shooting position in a saddle. Also, I stopped using mine because I learned it was illegal to use climbing spurs for hunting. The laws may have changed. On the plus side, you can climb quite a bit higher 30-35ft in a good tree to manage your odor envelope and take one hell of a nap if so inclined[emoji4]. Good luck!
