Good luck with the new rig Clark!  I’m on the Cape playing in my little dinghy again, no stripers yet.  Actually looking forward to getting home and getting my boat on the big O as soon as I get there.

I forgot to mention to dredge the fish in flour or dry mix before dipping into the wet mix.  The batter will stick better. I updated this into the recipe above.

Carbon 14 and Green Hornet are almost always swimming for me. I’m surprised the second one doesn’t get mentioned at all, it’s a steady producer as well.

I’m queezy just thinking about it.  Getting bites is a helpful distraction though.

It’s a plastic plate, almost looks like a planer board but clips onto your rigger cable and pulls your lines away from the boat to spread your downrigger lines apart.

I’m sorry, I just realized I gave you my cheater program, but the same applies as I don’t run a stacked line above my flashers because it always ends poorly for me at some point either on a hooked fish or when reeling up and finding a birds nest.

That’s true for most fishy tasting fish including saltwater fish like mackerel and bluefish. Also, the fresher you eat them the better.  If you freeze those two types don’t bother unless you plan to smoke them.

X2 with flasher spoon combo.  I run a flasher deep on rigger 1 and stacked spoons on rigger 2 with a swivel above the deeper spoon longer than the leader on my cheater if that makes sense so the cheater doesn’t fall as low as the main spoon on the way in

It’s an awesome lake for trophy fishing but not for quantity unless you really put your time in.  One of my heaviest walleyes came from there and was only 27”.  It went 10 # and looked like it just ate a bass in one gulp.

I’ve pretty much stopped fishing the lake since last year.  Summer trolling for eyes for me has become a fishless tour around the lake.  The other lakes I fish require much less time and gas to get bites, just not as much quality in size.   Nice job connecting on those fish.  

Let me know how this works with lake run salmon if you try it.  I haven’t been out on the big lake yet this year.

I don’t remember anymore but I may have to experiment a flasher trailed by a tube body that I use for laker jigging to try a different presentation 

I haven’t fished there in about 15 years since he sold it but I’m sure the fishery has changed since then.  We also did well with trolling fresh staging salmon in there the last day we fished it when it sold.  I may still have some pictures of the fresh silvers we got that day.  I didn’t realize at the time how odd that was that they looked like we caught them in July and not September.  Good luck fishing, let us know how you do.

It used to be called “dragging iron” for smallies.  The numbers aren’t what they used to be but they have rebounded some.

I don’t know about walleye or pike but my father-in-law used to have a camp there and punished the smallmouth bass drifting crayfish behind a slowly trolled anchor.  It would kick up sediment and get the bass in a feeding frenzy.

Also really good smallmouth bass fishing right where you are if you feel like doing that and the wind isn’t cooperating for deep water fishing.  Use anything that looks like a crayfish
