We got out a little later than I wanted but the conditions were great at 6:00 when we set our lines out. Had a mature on a Twinkie and meat rig but it straightened out a hook and got off. The dragon slayer with hammer fly got hit on a dipsey 5 minutes later out 180 on a 3 setting but came unbuttoned as well. Finally the meat rig got hit again and landed it with every hook in its maw. Couple more hit and runs then nothing else as it started to get dark. We did best between 70-80’ with most fish hovering around 60 down.

I won’t get on the water until 5:30 so maybe I’ll run out to 150’ and work my way back in until I hopefully see marks unless I see some on the way out. Thanks for the replies

I am heading up to Pulaski later this afternoon to try to anger some stagers and wondering if anyone can give me temp info . I don’t have a fish hawk or temp probe so just hoping to at least get out to a good zone and not waste much time experimenting with depths. Any info would be appreciated and very helpful.

I’m down here now for the week and nothing but porgies and dogfish from the beach. Fishing mid-sound in Connecticut. I have 3 more days to find bass.

I got one mature king in 650’ on Monday went 7-9 with an all spoon bite. Downrigger was mupped and wire diver ran a flasher with spoon.

I fished a few miles west of the plant today and deep was productive for immatures and steelhead. If you aren’t getting anything in tight slide out deep for some action.

Today was a picture perfect day on the water. My 15 y/o daughter took me up on my offer to bring anyone out with me so I was shocked. We dropped our lines in at 6:30am at the 29 line and trolled north east. Had a steady pick of steelhead and skippy’s for a few hours until we took our first major of the year. She took the downrigger rod after it popped and I knew right away it was going to be a battle. She handled it perfectly while I coached her through it. I don’t have a fish hawk so just read the DR cables and guessed on the thermocline. There was definitely a significant down current but took shots in both directions. All hits were taken between 80-90’ down over 550-650 fow. Only 2 rods took all the shots, my DR mupped with Green Hornet spoons and a dipsey on wire out 205-225’ with a chinook diver, 2 face spinny, and white 2 face spoon. Nice 25” steelhead was the runner-up for biggest fish to hit the deck. Thank you to all for your detailed reports, they certainly helped me dial in a program pretty quickly.

Great trip, thanks for the report. I haven’t even been on the lake yet this year but hoping to transition my gear from finger lakes to big lake fishing this weekend. The color of those fillets look promising. How do you cook your salmon? I still haven’t found a way to enjoy them besides smoking.

Nice job, was the spoon a Stinger? They really catch a lot of fish but man they can’t take the heat from anything with teeth.

Those are great fish! I haven’t been out much this season at all but seeing those is motivating.

Happy Fathers day to all the dads. Ready to spend the day with my family after an awesome off the grid fishing getaway weekend. We ended up catching some great quality fish including a 21.5” smallmouth on a Gambler Rig that weighed 6.7lbs and two others that were 19” and almost just as thick. A nice 30” northern grabbed my Keitech to top off a St Lawrence trifecta.

Kevin, I have only you to thank for my first st Larry walleye. We did what you said and trolled along a ledge in a strong current area in 35’ and I got a nice 26.5” 7.7 lb. I did lose 3 sticks and a bottom bouncer before the hit but it’s all part of the learning process. The contours are similar to finger lakes trolling where they can change drastically before you can effectively react so we definitely have to run the course a few times to get a successful run charted on the graph to follow for easier navigation in the future. Without your info we wouldn’t have had the confidence to continue what we were doing until it finally all came together after a couple of hours.

Wow, I’d love to know how you do that. Heading up to grindstone island Friday night and Saturday to try to figure out a walleye bite. Going to try to troll sticks along Picton channel at night and maybe harnesses the next morning to see if we can get anything going. Are you jigging in deep water or trolling? My friends boat isn’t set up for trolling and no side imaging so really going to have to guess where they are since we probably won’t see them on the graph.
