  1. Anyone tried trolling these for spring browns? If so, size 2 or 3?
  2. Why am I reading this thread?
  3. a 1999 bought new in 2007? Wow that thing sat around
  4. Im staying sane by unfollowing this topic.
  5. Sk8man, why even run dipsy divers in 10ft? Can't you solve depth via line length in 10ft?
  6. Snubber with wire? Also, can you use a standard Rod holder like a cabelaa 360 or so you need a launcher type Rod holder?
  7. Ive seen everyone call for wire for dipsie rods, but nobody talks about mono. Why? In Theory it should be great with a bit a stretch. Need to string up my new rods so looking for opinions.
  8. Mine came with the Lake Insight Chip. It looks OK. It was a package from Cabelas. It is interesting the the CHIRP and HDI are the same price at CABELAS
  9. I was the one who called Lowrance. I had been meaning to call them because my new HDI 7 keeps restarting. I called the technical support department and was told that there is no way to upgrade the HDI to a CHIRP. The internal hardware is different. He was telling me about the update and felt that this would cure my constantly restarting unit. This is my first Lowrance product and so far not good.
  10. I've been buying more tackle than I will ever use.
  11. What's the line rating on that okuma? Does it fight a fish or are you just reeling?
  12. What rod do you guys use in the spring for fishing for browns off of a planer. I just got some super light 8-12lb rated trolling rods(i liek the action so far even though its just me screweing around in the living room. I have yellow bird and offshore planers. The offshore planers weight 10oz and im thinking thats too much for pulling a planer on this rod. I have some okuma classic pros(8-20 lb rated) that seem like they can handle the weight of the planer better. The downside is I feel like if I catch a cookie cutter brown I will be reeling it in with a broomstick. Open to suggestions. Can I use the light rated trolling rod?
  13. Either that or they took an Offshore board and painted it yellow. Cheaper than an off-shore though.
  14. I'm a newer member. Let's go fishing this spring.
  15. Hello Mr Andrus...It's Senor Snagger. Hope things are well. For $32 dollars in "extra shipping" they could have packaged it better than in a giant toilet paper tube.
  16. for charging me $32 extra for extra packing for my new fishing rods. Thank you for using UPS. Thank you for not having any more in stock. Thank you for finally convincing me to find a new place to shop.
  17. Thank you Sk8man. Just ordered one of those mini sd cards on Amazon.
  18. I just went to Cabelas yesterday. Shocker, none available. I ordered 4 of them to be mailed to my house. I'll see how they go. If I dont like them for trolling, they will be fine for fluking im sure
  19. I constantly buy local where practicable. Unless you are in a service business(hotel, restaurant, plumber, etc) owning a brick and mortar store has jumped the shark unless you are able to scale(Gander Mountain as an example). Anyone seen a local hardware store lately? We lost ours 3 years ago because Home Depot can buy a screw for 2 cents because they buy 30,000,000 of them. My old hardware store couldn't buy that screw for less than a quarter. And those of you that scream "SHOP LOCAL", where do you get your gas? At the Exxon for 2.20 or the local repair shop that sells it at $2.40? That's what I thought.
  20. Local shops have become an emergency only place. Buy local only works if local is competitive.
  21. I have to say that Amazon is pretty cheap for fishing stuff. I was at Cabelas in PA to get some light action rods and reels for spring. as an example, I needed some Okuma Magda 20's. Cabelas was 60. Amazon was 36 and that was shipped to my door. Even swivels were cheaper than cabelas.
  22. maybe 5 mins. I won't leave the house until she's ready to launch. Guess I could just launch daily out of Mexico point
