  1. Thanks for all the advice guys, I really appreciate it. Good luck fishing
  2. Haha thank you, I will first look to fix the counters before marking the cable. Thanks for all the advice
  3. Les - thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I do have the counters on the mag 10's but they have been giving me some issues (not staying aligned with the gear so they are very inaccurate). I am familiar with the issue of blowback and was looking into a Fish Hawk TD ($149.99) which is much cheaper and would allow me to compare my depth with the one on the Fish Hawk. Little more work and math involved than the x4 but still would would give me a rough idea of the blowback given all the factors you mentioned. Do you see any issue with spray painted markings on the cable for a more accurate measure of how much cable is in the water?
  4. Hey guys, Still new to salmon fishing and don’t get out more than a few times a year (looking to get out more). I have older mag10s and am not looking to buy a fish hawk this year. But would really like to be more accurate with my ball depth. Was thinking about spray painting marks every 5 feet on the cable. I would start marks at 50ft and end at 200 ft. I fish out of Henderson and haven’t seen the need for anything over 200ft. I know it sounds like a lot but I’m young and don’t mind the labor/hassle of counting if it will save me some money. Let me know your opinion/suggestions or concerns with my idea. Thanks
  5. Replacing Line Counter on Marlin Electric HP Hey guys, I have a Marlin Electric HP downrigger and I need to replace the line counter. I do not want to remove the spool (which means disassembling the entire downrigger) but I might have. I could be wrong though. Any ideas on how to do it?
  6. I know this may be a little cheaper than the wahoo industries one but seemed to get good reviews and I only fish 8-10 times a year. The price is half that of the wahoo one. Any thoughts?
  7. That's perfect, thanks for sharing that with me.
  8. That's a great idea, thank you! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. @greenboatluke I agree with you and would love to have one on each side but its my dad's boat and I would have to install metal trackers which would not fly with him haha. But I appreciate the suggestion.
  10. @reelintense and @bout time thank you so much for your feedback. I am assuming the rod was more perpendicular to the water?
  11. Diver Rod Angle Hey guys, I am a beginning fisherman but have been out a few times. We have a center console with a t-top and rod holders on top. I run two downriggers, one on each corner and was looking to add a diver to the mix but don't have rod holders allowing the rod to sit parallel to the water. Has anyone tried running a diver down the shoot between the two riggers with a vertical rod angle? or have any suggestions? Thanks for the advice, Dan
  12. Went out of Henderson at 06:30 this morning and landed my first lake trout. Pretty pumped but appreciate all the help from other anglers on this forum. Thanks guys. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Lake Ontario United mobile app
